The Van Is Back

Hi all,

Well its Back home after Nine days.

Is it all fixed. Yes to their way of thinking it is. I won't be going back unless its an appliance issue.

Our TV wall bracket has sixteen spare holes around it as an example to get it centered nonono. And they want me to return it again  to replace the cabinet wall. No No NO.

Do It right the first time.

I will do a proper seal up job below decks in the coming weeks, after moving the front tank back myself. before we hit the road.

As John said At delivery time ( Why the hell did you take delivery in the first place.) Life's a learning curve. We never stop learning. This time I learnt a Very Big Lesson. I will never make the same mistake twice.

Jim

Hope the saga has finished for you Jim. There was definitely a few episodes. More than " Star Wars " really.

" May the force be with you "

Nope...they wont fall off with your care and regular checks/maintenance Jim. One thing I have learned in a little over 2 years ownership of ours is that these vans are bloody easy to maintain. Oh...and I have a little tip if you like. Ours was fairly hard riding when new (before the springs wore/ran in. So I jacked it up on either side under the centre spring mount.....hammered an old screwdriver in between each leaf (front and back of each set) and flooded in between with heavy duty Lanotec. Left them a day or two and repeated the laborious process . Now the van rides heaps better as the Lanotec has allowed the springs to "run in" easier....and move a little more freely. Am only gunna do this once ....as the inbuilt "inertia" damping of leaf springs doesn't work real well if the packs are kept lubricated....but it has helped to knock the rough bits off and let them work better. Now the cupboard doors above the sink stay shut ....so a win is a win !!!

Cheers  Keith

Jim,

I know when you got the van a few of the major issues, rather than cosmetic issues, were the chassis member that was cut, the way the water hose went over rather than through the frame, and the chaffing of the wires under the van.

Were those items attended to and fixed, as they seemed to be the major items that could cause problems when you eventually go away?

If the TV bracket has been left with holes in the cupboard I would certainly consider getting that fixed rather than leave it. Out of interest, did they mention or comment on the alterations you had made to the tank positions and pipework under the van?

Hope that these items were all done, and you can now plan your trips away.

.......orrrr, it's just Jayco's way to keep you focussed on the obvious drill holes....and not the rest......in sixteen weeks, are you contemplating going in convoy 'Rubber Ducky'?....I wouldn't miss it for quids.....as the song goes..' Bout a mile outa Shaky Town, I says, 'Pig Pen  this here's the Rubber Duck and I'm about to put the hammer down'........at least it will be environmentally friendly, breaking down in the Australian Bush.....lol.....no....seriously...that 'proper seal up job below decks'...sounds more like a surgical manoeuvre, than an engineering move.....we all send you our combined good luck.......lmao.....Hoo Roo

Hi Ian , Bruce, And all.

Do want the full boring run down. They Fixed the wiring around the Grey water tank and the gas line replaced. Fixed the Hypo  valves right way round. Replaced the entire fridge panelling.

TV mount NO.

Attached the missing Jerry can holder No. At leased they gave me one to fit myself.

Relocate the Jockey wheel bracket to the centre of A Frame as standed on this model. No.

Moved the under sided water tank back to  the spare frame. No.

Fixed the 45 Degree  cut angle as per Photo's before. NO.

seal up the holes left around the tubed plastic pipes. No.

Fix the flatened tubing  as per photo's. No.

I will use high pressure reinforced plumbers tube piping to fix these myself, About $ 40.00 worth plus all, along with the other bits.

I will seal the floor joints as needed. to make it less prone to dust penertration and ants access.

Sorry to be such a bore. Thanks for asking just the same.

Regards Jim
