Most GN's probably don't give a 2nd thought to phone directories so they may not know that the latest issues are printed in China. The quality is about the same as Australian printed ones.
Some will say that it was inevitable but that begs the question why did we allow it to happen. I really think we are our worst enemy.
Denis, if you check every book that is published in the past 15>20 years you will see that the vast majority of them are printed overseas.
It is unusual for a publication to be printed in Australia ... not always China but overseas.
And obviously this has been due to the high cost of printing in Australia which has led to there now being very few local printing organisations now with the capacity to produce large volume runs of paper publications - including collation, binding etc.
I will venture to say that almost all the 'glossy magazines' sold here are now printed outside Australia - mainly Malaysia I think.

I have not used a telephone book since the writing started to look like ants crawling across the page, now much easier to go on line that way I can make the print any size I want.

Happily doing both to the Max.
Life is like a camera, focus on what's important & you will capture it every Time
Worst part about all Phone books over the last several years is you ned to carry a Giant Magnifying glas with you to read them, I find they still have a place in my life from time to time.
I wonder how they would go if you drilled a hole through the corner, and looped a piece of string through the hole, so you could hang it on a nail in the dunny? Maybe the print would rub off though

In this country we are consumers of everything and not manufacturers of anything. We may assemble a few things to give us that warm fuzzy feeling it's Australian made but all the parts are imported even most caravan bits, right down to the self tappers that hold it all together . Very sorry just can't afford to buy Australian anymore and if it is produced here the profits go out of the country to the parent company anyway certainly not to the Australian tax system

My Dad always reckoned every year that the print got smaller not only do I now find I am in agreance but this year it really was and so was the size of the pages
Like others I haven't looked at one for a couple of years either as I already have the phone numbers I need in my phone if not I simply do a search for it on line
