wow, that's a great improvement getting the dump point there. Stanhope has been trying to get showers, toilet and dump point for ages but the shire only thinks of Echuca as a tourist spot. At least GMWater knows, understands how many people visit greens and has done something about it. God bless, froggos

Gday...

Excellent outcome, Doug

Do you know if the installation was in fact authorised (funded?) by Goulburn Murray Water?

If so, we all should send an email of thanks

PS -I apologise for being a bit negative, but I really hope those  "hoards of locals" that fill Greens on long weekends do not use it indiscriminately. cry

cheers - John

It is great to see a popular free camp get upgraded rather than have people trying to get it closed.

I know the regulars will look after the facility, but I just hope that the rest of the people who come and use the site infrequently are as careful and appreciative of the work done.

You seem to be assuming that everyone other than Grey Nomads are responsible for unspecified irregularities, when in fact there seems to be a rather large percentage of Grey Nomad attendees at Greens and as most right minded people would know, that when free loaders of any description take over a camp it becomes a shambles!

Excuse me Bunyip, "freeloaders" how dare you. I am here as we speak and no way known do I not look after this place as do many people I know that also come here. From my experience here over 5 years now it is mainly some of the locals that don't give a hoot.

Enjoy your stay on GN's.

Have to agree with Dougwe says there - Greens Lake is probably the best looked after camp around, thanks to the guys and girls who do their bit.

Gday...

Welcome Bunyip.

In some ways, your comments are quite valid that in many instances around this wide, brown land there are some 'free loaders' that abuse and/or overuse some camping grounds. Indeed some of those 'free loaders' are quite probably Grey Nomads - of a wide variety of description.

In regard to Greens Reserve, Corop, this camp is certainly frequented by many from this forum - and many other Grey Nomads who are not on the forum - who are full-time and part-time travellers.

And indeed it is quite valid to realise that there are a 'core' of members from this forum who spend considerable 'summer time' camped at Greens Reserve.

Where the validity of your comment is tested is that those Grey Nomads that you seem to feel are 'free loaders' at Greens Reserve, particularly from this forum, are, in truth, pseudo-caretakers insomuch that they clean the toilets, pick up rubbish and put it in the large skips that are provided by Goulburn Murray Water (GMW), keep GMW advised of issues that need attention so that the area is well looked after and keep the area in very good condition.

In actuality, Greens Reserve is something of a mecca for members from this forum as a 'summer get together' and meeting place.

Greens Reserve is definitely NOT a shambles ... EXCEPT after a long weekend when the locals who come from kilometres away to use the lake for their boating and swimming and camping. It is after one of these weekends when there over 100 campers of all ages, backgrounds and interests that the 'shambles' title may fit.

The best way to get a good idea of the Greens Reserve camping area is to mark it onto your "to do list" and drop in for a few nights camping. You will see there are numerous adjectives that will fill your vocabulary regarding Greens .... shambles will NOT be one of them.

Cheers - John

Must have struck a nerve if your so offended Wee Doug, I suppose you pay your way there at Greens for what 6 months of the year hogging prime spots where locals that pay rates can't get a good position because of you freeloading drunks!

I think I need to apologize namely because I detest free loaders of any sort, there is nothing good about them or in them in my opinion.

Gidday Bunyip, I rarely come on this site anymore, However I come on here for the first time in weeks, and wonder confuse What has happened to the regulars on here confuse they used to be able to pick '' A TROLL '' really easy, some how you have slipped pass, confuse

I took the liberty of checking out all your post comments, and have been left with no doubt that you are either a Troll ! or just a very sad and forlorn person with an extremely low IQ, hmm

I once said to another member here, that was not exactly my best friend, !! no That If he ever went to have a 'colonoscopy' then they would most likely send the camera in Orally, because he was that full of sh--- Crap, However I think you have taken that title away from him, [ or are you his brother !! ]hmm

Never the less, it will not be long before you are discovered as a troll, and be sent on your way, And I hope you then find something worthwhile, to do in your spare time, instead of wasting your life !hmm

Hi there Mr Dougewe

A great photo of the new addition which is most welcome. I know that it will be well maintained by the well caring community of G/Ns from this forum and other travellers that know how great this place and others are. Dougwe i back you and all G/Ns on this forum. I have also been to greens and found it a great place.

From Your post bunyip i take it you have not as yet been to greens coming from Lake Mcquaire may be to far to travel to greens and see for yourself, after a visit you have a right to comment on a particular place or point.

I also take offence at your post ( hogging prime spots ) how do you come to that point having not been?.Also who T-- F--- are you to call another a drunk

You are a waste of air  so Shut the F--- Up CHEERS.

Hi Bunyip, I am not sure that a welcome to the Grey Nomads is the correct thing to do. For someone that joined just 8 days ago, you sure know how to rub people up the wrong way. However - each to his own and help the world go around. Maybe you should first qualify your remarks about "drunk freeloaders", and explain what your version of a "drunk freeloader" is and how you have come to the conclusions you have just aired on this forum. I assume that you have met all these people that you have described and are giving a reasoned opinion of your own. If you have not actually met any of these individuals that you have insulted with such an overall "one fits all" description, then I would advise that "it is better to look a fool than open your mouth and prove you are one". Just remember that what you recognise in others is probably the same in you. Have a good and safe journey to where you are going.

I Love hearing about the Goings-on of the Green's Crew. They're Cool, and as mate told me, you can't Buy Cool Krusty, you've either Got it, or you Haven't (he also said I haven't got it. :)).

well this has gone downhill quick! I'm a local to this area and have seen all sorts of antics at greens. I have nothing but respect for the grey nomads that I've seen at greens so far. As one of those local rate payers I have no problem with the grey nomads camping there for as long as they like. GM Water owns the site as its part of our irrigation system, so no shire rates should be contributed to the site. However as a farmer and irrigator who contributes to the systems up keep I'm thankful for the nomads spending money in our little towns and keeping the camping areas clean.

I'm stunned at Bunyips comments on here so decided to go look at his other comments.
Conclusion is bunyip is a troll, a stirrer and a troublemaker who won't last long on here.
I have to say it would be very unlikely for a dump point to be put in Greens just to cater to the locals who frequent with short stays.
I have no doubt the decision has been made because of the number of grey nomads and similiar travellers who do stay for good lengths of time, be it days, weeks or months
Bye, bye Bunyip.

How,

I kept quiet and deliberately didn't respond any further to Buyip as I fingered he was a troll and Cindy would see his disgusting behaviour. Well done Cindy.

I was going to ask Cindy to send this thread to the "Thread Gods" as it started to make the forum look bad, then re-post the pic but then had second thoughts. It probably is best to leave the thread here to show would be trouble makers they won't last long on a very well run forum as this.

OH! For anyone interested I spend quite a lot of money while here in local businesses, see a GP locally on a regular basis for a ongoing problem and also a dentist. I am not a "freeloading drunk" as called above, no where near one as I only have 2 standard drinks of alcohol each afternoon, sometimes none. I drink 2 litres of water each day and 1 cup of green tea with breakfast. Gee, I feel drunk just writing all that. Water logged at least.

I pick up rubbish as I walk around if needed and even though I don't use the toilets much I have even cleaned those.

So that said, I feel I pay my way here and I tell you that for free.

Now back on original topic......The new dump point is getting used now and very good feed back indeed from people here. I have sent an email to MGW with my appreciation of this great place. Even though I emptied my toilet canister today it was done at the usual place not here and as always left a $5 donation for doing so.

Hi Doug. I think just about everyone on this forum has had the benefit of your friendship, good nature and ongoing assistance. I know I have. I don't think you have to explain yourself to anyone. You are one of the good guys.

Great to see a new dump point at Greens.  Interesting convo in the middle of this post.

We will be visiting for the weekend with a couple of friends, I'll try to come say hi to anyone who is around.  I say "try" as I am hobbling on crook knee.

Cheers

Liz (and Carl)

Hello Dougwe, and other Grey Nomads at Greens Lake

Dougwe, I would say that DMaxer, has said it better than I could

I would just like to place my voice of support behind free camps, and think that those who stay and help to look after them, are to be commended.

I am of the opinion, (and I could be wrong), that there are many other future retirees following us, who would be unable to live the dream of travelling, if there were no longer any free campsites.

To the casual readers of this forum, of which I was one before signing up, I make the following disclaimer.
The only Grey Nomads I am aware of meeting on the road, were Billieeeee and jules47. I found them to be no different than myself.
