MONSTER FISH, OLLEY AND HW

Shut the front gate!

Gee, a bloke can't get peace and quiet around here. People wanting to know everything biggrin biggrin

Olley and Marj you will be pleased to know the big fish has not got us and might I add no one has got him yet, infact not many fish big or small have left the waters here at Greens for some time now.

The weekend just gone was reasonably quiet for some reason as the weather was great however, the same can't be said for the previous weekend, busy as, yep, busy as the Aussie day so called extra long week end, why? Read on.

The weather here so far this month has been peeeerfect so far during February with low to mid 30's during the day and high teens over night. People started arriving early on the Friday and those that know this great place, the two big rubbish skips were emptied on the Thursday however by Saturday night they were both over flowing.

Later in the week I rang the water authorities and told them about the rubbish, so because the skips were not being emptied for another week they sent out a big trench digger thingy to squash the rubbish down in those beasties.

They get emptied this Thursday coming and that's great as they are both over flowing again. Some locals bring heaps of rubbish from home and dump here. We have even seen trailers arrive full of rubbush and get dumped. Some locals just don't appreciate what they have here at Greens. Fortunately the authorities know it is not the travellers and GN doing this and we tidy things up and have been known to even clean the toilets.

Well, that's it until my monthly update that goes in "General" at the end of each month.

Keep Safe out there in the real world.

Just the two of us as we speak Marj but they have been coming and going as normal for this time of year.

Very few people here at all now during the week really but weekends pick up.

All good on the Greens Lake front.

Was quiet at Greens last weekend because of the southern 80 boat race
I went to the river sat arvo and the place was chockers, cound not move with people, cars tents and plenty of piss
As usaul the parks and council are complaining about the rubbish left behind
If they used there brains???? they would put bins around, but no that costs tooooo much, they now have to spend 2 weeks cleaning up
Where are the savings ??

Gday...

X 2 blaze

Generally speaking, our society has become pigs, thoughtless pigs, inconsiderate of anyone else but themselves.

It is not just these sort of events either, have a look at the MCG, SCG Gabba, WACCA etc etc ..... takes days and a staff of dozens to clean up the mess left.

Even at the movies/concerts - the theatre is left full of discarded rubbish. no

Cheers - gumblebum agen hmm - John

It is all very well to say take it with you but when they buy all their groceries and booze in the town and support all the shops surely the council can supply some handy bins to drop off the rubbish

 Gday...

Why ?? confuse

They had no problem carrying it in - bulky and weighty? ... surely they can carry it out empty and light confuse

Cheers - John

When they buy it in town and spend the dollars surely bins can be provided
Does not happen in this town when it is not RV friendly

I'm with Ken on this one. Being an Echuca local I say Echuca has been RV unfriendly for far too long.
Time it all changed and maybe it's starting to with a small RV camp been announced today, hopefully with a dump point as the only one is inside a caravan park which you have to pay to use.
How can it hurt them to put skips out in the camping area, they've been living off the tourist's wallets for far too long and giving nothing back.
If MVW can do a dump point for Greens, surely Echuca can consider it's tourists more.

Hi Blaze, yes so were we, but these days are so different.

I will always take my rubbish plus pick up other people's. We are the minority, not the majority.

Gday...

confuse Sorry but I think I must have missed something confuse

Wasn't the complaint that it was the attendees at the Southern 80 Boat Race that were the pigs?

Perhaps they had camped at the site, I fail to see how that has anything to do with the town being "RV unfriendly". cry

I hazard a guess that the majority of attendees were spectators who rocked up on the day, left their mess all over the ground, and cared little.

Pigs are pigs hmm I believe that if they can carry it in full and heavy then they can surely carry it back out empty and light. hmm

Unfortunately, 'tourists' and 'spectators' to events are pigs - inconsiderate to the event, the organisers, and the communities that support/organise such 'events'.

Just because there are 'tourists' that frequent events in the town and surrounds doesn't mean the "RV friendly" tag applies to 'tourists' or 'spectators' ... that term applies to RVers.

Cheers - John
