Hi all, another newbie.caravan movers-remote control.

I have just purchased a small van 12 ft.- am thinking of buying a remote control mover ,have a small laneway and cannot reverse into yard. I have looked at a few options, would like to know what other users have had or have. as the van only weighs about 780kg don't need anything too powerful. I am also confused with prices- from $100 (ratchet type) to about $3000 ( caravan tractor). so far the one that seems to suit is optitec jockey wheel - looks good, but too far away to be able to see it in action and don't want to shell out $$$$'s and discover its not what I need.

advice please.

Welcome to the gang Jan pc, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have used one of those (caravan tractors) and reckon it's the bees knees. Remote control so just stand back and move away. You would only need the smaller one so would be cheaper.

If you are on your own, you still need to see where you are going so a remote control one would be the way to go I reckon.

I believe the optitec style of movers have trouble on grass and need boards put under them as shown on there web page on youtube.The link shows a type that drives the caravans own wheels and thus will not slip on grass etc and about the same cost. A much more substantial system and good at time of resale

Hi Jan,

My son just purchased me a remote caravan mover  ($1500), as my driveway is very tight and  the van is 6.2 metres long....... it saved our marriage.........would not trade it for the world....

You can find them on the internet and are in most states of oz.

Thanks for the reply, could you tell me the type that you have, where you got it from etc.
I have had some other suggestions on types from other forum people, and of course when you speak with the distributors of products ...theirs is the best......yadda ,yadda,yadda...
I am not wanting the ones that are permanently fixed to the chassis of the van, places that fit them are few and far between and not cost effective for me...... hence the liking for the removable jockey wheel types.
