Given that my espresso machine at home requires 240V and hence is not suitable for free camping, I am wondering what coffee-loving grey nomads do to get their caffeine fix every day?
Bialetti Venus 2 Cup Stainless Steel Espresso Maker are great looking and easy to keep clean about 50 bucks. The Avanti one works just the same but being aulminium gets pitted after, like, for ever but at 10 bucks odd. Meh?
Also one of these are very handy. About 3 litres stainless. You can "swing" one - hey does any one still swing a billy? The spout makes them very safe and handy for filling hot water bottles etc. About 30 bucks.

We buy beans, and grind enough for about a week and store in the fridge. The grinder is a little 240 volt machine, large coffee mug size, which we plug in when on power or through an inverter. Then simply use a stove top perculator. Remember folks. Coffee, along with chocolate is a core food. And no, Nescafe is not...real... coffee. Though the good wife is in love with George Clooney and he drinks Nescafe. A man of poor taste. For the coffee.....
If you prefer espresso coffee brewed in a coffee machine then the other alternatives - percolators, drip machines, french presses and any stovetop device will never give as good a cup of coffee.
We've tried them all and the coffee machine with ground coffee beans cannot be equalled. Of course that's only in our opinion.
Good Luck.
Forget your coffee, don't worry about 240 volt ,get your caffeine hit with a nice cold bottle of coca cola this will mend a broken leg ,ahhh great stuff.

Exactly
and that is why we use the Atomic cappuccino maker, espresso and steamed milk
yummo

Hi Frank, KFT,
Thanks for the Tip. Hubby keeps complaining every time we go away that we don't have, or forgot the blasted coffee machine. Its to darn big for the Van so have just ordered the DiBartolli stove top one to give him for fathers day. Thrilled.!!

Yes I swing the billy when making tea over the open fire.
I also -
-tap the outside of the billy,
-put a stick across the top while boiling it
- drop in a small handful of leaves just as the water is coming to the boil.
<snip>
I was out bush with a buncha city boys and went to "swing a billy" and they all freaked out. Dunno what they teach those guys at University.
Those other three things you mention though - what is that about ?
Tapping the side of the billy is supposed to make the leaves settle to the bottom ... Try it.
The stick across the top is supposed to stop it boiling over. Not too sure about this though. Let me know how you go.
I reckon a good billy of tea on the camp fire is made by bringing the billy to the boil & then dropping the half handful of tea leaves in and with the stick across the top letting it 'stew' for a minute or so on the side of the fire.
Gloria wears her jeans super tight, so you wont get coffee in them lol
When I pass through any town on city - Im on the lookout for McCafe. In Melbourne I saw a guy take his Jayco poptop through the drive through. That was hilarious watching him get stuck trying to get round the corner of the building. Total prat - I walked in and got my coffee and he and the Maccas Manager were outside talking - reckon he would have had to un-hitch the van and buy lots of burgers to get some staff to help him push the van backwards and out of the drive through

Amen to that!!!
NB: I drink decaf (unleaded) for health reasons, but I swear, it is addictive as the leaded version. My day does not start til I've had a cup - even though by that time I've walked the dogs 6km, and often eaten and done dishes.
