I missed it as well and have just PM'd Jim asking him to re-consider leaving. He is a valuable contributor with a great sense of humour. Please PM him asking him to re-consider leaving.

But what was the word???? Think about it - he abbreviated a word and now someone has said hes a racist - guessing the word has 3 letters in it !!!!

Sadly the Forum seems to have a few people who are very negative and make unpleasant remarks or are very politically correct and complain to Cindy about any accidental reference to races or our native forests.

No doubt Cindy will close this post down soon - so PM Jim and encourage him to stay on !!!!!

Without knowing the details, as the original poster failed to let us know, I can only imagine the abbreviation pertained to our nation's original inhabitants.

Just like in the US when someone refers to a Negro in a derogatory way such as "boy", there's a major uproar and rightly so.

You would have thought that after the Adam Goodes affair, most of us might just have got the message.

Everyone deserves a level of respect that goes beyond name calling. Walk a mile in their shoes I say.

I for one can vouch for Jim and I tell you that Jim is not a racist both Jim and Leonie are. friendly and caring people, we have lost a number of long term valuable members as a result of a small minority we don't want to loose any more.

My question to those who feel they need to complain about other members, is are you perfect have you never done or said anything that could offend others it's worth thinking about the ramifications of your complaint and will it really improve or add value to our forum.

I don't know what Jim said on this occasion but over the years he has been an outstanding contributor to the forum.

I add my name to the list asking Jim to stay if you pull the plug mate the only winners are the 2 percent all the rest of us are the losers, hoping you have a rethink Jim.

You are right in your assumption about the 3 letter word, but Jims post with that terrible abbreviation was not intended to be racist, just him - he always does this in many posts and comments with many words. He certainly wasn't name calling and its disappointing you have assumed this without even knowing what he said - that's called prejudice - as bad as being racist.

Jim contributes a lot more positive, knowledgeable and helpful posts than I have ever seen from you. Given you are a Senior Member, can we expect to see daily posts from you to takes Jims place if he does leave???? (and he will no doubt receive many PM's supporting him and asking him to stay)

Im sorry if you see this as a personal attack on you - its not intended to be at all. I just find it annoying you choose to criticize him without knowing the facts (the so called offensive post)

Now it is pretty boring, not many posts and anything that is not PC is immediately jumped on and the ""offender" punished ( usually resulting in another person with a wealth of knowledge that can be shared with the rest of us, leaving the Forum)

Bruce and Bev, you are dead right in the above statement, -- Go back to Pre Avatar Debarcle, this Forum Had a regular and consistent input, by 40 - 50 Experienced, Knowlegeable, friendly,and Humorous Members, I very rarely come on this site anymore, and when i do it is just for a quick glance to see what if anything is new. I have noticed that the forum is only kept alive by around 8 - 12 regular and committed members, some old and some new, I only logged on here to comment because i spotted The 2% Terminology, which I started many moons ago, to point out that around 2 % of the members on here were destroying this Once great forum, ? and when I seen that post was from justcruisin01 I was surprised, as i was unaware that he had come back, And now to see he is leaving again ?? For the very same reasons he and many many others left in the first place,, By all accounts ? by All who have Met, talked to , or had any dealings at all with Jim and Leonie, " As people and genuine knowlegable and helpful members of this forum, Again forced to leave because they are sick and tired of the silly, stupid, Negative, brainless, Damaging, 2% ers, that management, still seems to support the minority, at the expense and Loss of many many good members,???

I would like to know who they are and why they think they are the forum police.

I was just thinking about this thread and maybe we need to insist that full names are listed in our profiles and a genuine email to authenticate who each person is.

I am not ashamed to put my real name up.

There could be an "opt out" for those that give details in private to webmaster.

Any thoughts??????

Hi everybody,
Like most of you, I was also disappointed to hear that justcruisin01 was considering leaving the forum. He is a very valued member and has contributed many superb and helpful posts going back a number of years. I very much hope he decides to stay.
I would just like to clarify though that I am the sole moderator of the forum. I always encourage people who have an issue with any post to contact me, and then I decide what action – if any - to take. I try to intervene as little as possible but I am well aware that this is a public forum with several thousand members and many more ‘visitors’ who just come for a browse. There are people with a wide range of views and different levels of tolerance to different issues. I have to use my judgement about which comments require moderation and I only moderate anything if I feel I have to, and only after a great deal of thought. This forum was set up to offer grey nomads and wannabe grey nomads a friendly and welcoming place to exchange advice and stories. I understand that people occasionally get upset if I moderate a comment that they didn’t feel deserved to be moderated. I understand that but, at the same time, I still have to make decisions about what I feel is appropriate on the forum. I am trying to apply general standards and I appeal to any members to try not to take things personally. I certainly have no intention of upsetting anyone. Thanks for your understanding.
