Gday Gunny.

Could we please see a clear picture of the top of the knob? It may be a dimmer but I doubt it. Does the black knob turn like a volume control or click like a switch?

Cheers

Going by the writing on the cap ,looks like a fuse, not sure of the rating as I can't read it clearly.

Have the same thing in my Jayco and the switch is marked Battery Switch. The black round bit is definitely a fuse holder where the top section is pushed in and turned anti clock wise to remove it and replace the fuse.

Because turning the switch off does not affect the battery operated 12 volt lights I have had to assume that this switch isolates the Setec charger from the battery, and when that switch is switched off would not be charging or maintaining the battery voltage.

But then I have no idea if this last assumption is correct or not as it is an assumption.

Cheers,
Tom

Yes it is so that the battery can charge as I turned mine off accidently and my inhouse deep cycle battery went flat and had to buy new one so leave this switch on.

So what would be the use /purpose for installing this switch if it only stops the battery from charging but not from discharging I would have thought the other way around would make more sense. I have just installed one in my van to stop discharge but it still allows it to charge the batteries
gee I must be a dill !!!! Lol

On our Jayco that switch and fuse controls the charging from the Setec and isolates the batteries from the Setec, in other words stops charging AND usage of the house batteries.

I think the report of battery discharging above was self discharging over an extended period of time (the thing that happens if you are not maintaining it.) I don't think it was discharged by using it.
