Shame I hAve to move on

Have spent 8 days in Townsville, could have stayed for a month, but lot more to see Down the coast will go down to Rockhampton then go inland to Emerald then Roma and St George. Do the coast next year . Met up with Doug a few times for lunch in Townsville.  Love the place.

Ya know ya don't "have to" move on mate. You could always stay longer then make a dash for Mexico.

Yep it sure is good here in the tropics, Townsville. The weather gods have really turned on the good knob for your visit and I tell you that for free. I am lucky to have good contacts with the weather gods for sure.

Travel safe Dave and I will see down south later in the year.

Keep Safe out there.

Dave, when you get to Emerald, be sure to go to Lake Maraboon. Unfortunately you can't free camp there which is a pity coz it's a massive area. There is a Caravan Park there. If you stay overnight, throw in a couple of small crab pots, hide the ropes so no one can see them. Next morning you'll have numerous Red Claw. Just boil them up. Taste like lobster... For bait, I use cheap sardines. Punch a few holes in top of tin and place inside the pots.. Can't tell you much about Roma and St. George although used to fly into St. George in the old TAA days, but never left the airport.

Red claw like dry dog food, and some say they are vegetarian, the like oranges etc. heaps at Wuruma Dam over the summer/spring - fried rice, with claw marinated in sweet chili sauce is yummy!

Dave, if you're over Yeppoon way on Friday afternoon pop into the Visitor Information Centre and say hi, I'm there from 1pm to 5pm. Unfortunately there's no free camping around here and all caravan parks are chock-a-block. Don't know about Rockhampton, so hope you have accommodation organised.

Cheers
Joe

Hi Dave.  If you go to the Gemfields after Emerald, there is a free-camp right opposite the Trading Post in Sapphire now.  Dump point is near the Public Toilets.

Went out to visit Happywanderer last week, and the place has changed quite a bit since I was there last.

Cheers,

Sheba.

As Dave knows ya don't have to go over to Maggie. You can find one close by to the town. Just ask the twins, they seem to find them real easy. Only say'n of course.

Bugga, what was the OT again confuse

Yes it was me, going to sapphire for couple days then coming back to Emerald on Friday for the weekend then down to Roma, it looks like I have to go to Wagga Wagga to get my hitch sorted out some thing has gone wrong can't part it from the ute. It could have been a disaster if it didn't lock on would have had to truck it to ultima at Wagga

So you are in Sapphire for the next two nights, at the free camp?? I will call in on my way past tomorrow afternoon, I need to fill up my water containers etc there anyway.

Oops, put that on the wrong one. Dave will see it anyway.

Hi. Lynda . Yes I know going to Shepparton to have new awning put on insurance job sorted that one out before going north in May, have to be in swan hill for October long weekend. Back to the hitch, it's a warranty job & I bought the 5th wheeler in Adelaide. I don't need to go there as I spent 45 years in West Beach lovely place in summer. Just a shame to leave up north.

Met up with Dave today in Sapphire. Only a short chat, I was on my way back from 2 day visit to Emerald and extremely tired.

Dave talking about the other camping, as we were. I arrive back here to a 5th wheeler camped up on the hill above where I am. It seems they are all learning about this little hideaway.

Seems to be Sheba. This one has come in next to the coaster that was up there. They must know each other as very close. Still a lot of room though.
