John,

Thanks for the blog, seems like everyone was having a good time without having to stress themselves out, that's the life.

Good update John, I'm at 3 Mile Pool near Old Onslow camped on the Ashburton River, having a break away from the rat race on the highway, the rest areas are getting so crowded that you nearly have to get in about 10am, so am chilling out in a nice peaceful spot, my nearest neighbour is about 300 metres away. No bloody fish here, been trying for 3 days so will give up tomorrow & just look.
Keep enjoying yourselves.
mike.

Looks like almost the same spot we camped when we were there Mike - indeed a lovely spot - have you driven around yet, found the old jail? Toilets and a nice picnic area there as well.

Hi Mike, last time I camped on the eastern side of the seawall, threw a line in overnight and in the morning pulled in a huge flathead, probably been eating the cow poo that's dropped in there, but tasted good.   I think others have caught fish on the other side of the seawall near the river outlet.

If you haven't already done it have a look at the old graveyard and the ruins at Old Onslow.

Good update John, always look forward to them....smile

I passed a sign coming in that said 5 Mile Pool & today while driving around I just seen 3 Mile Pool sign in the grass so I recon I must be at 4 Mile Pool. yeah that rest area's not bad, you wouldn't know it was here, even has WiFi.

Have done all the sites at Old Onslow, next trip will be over the Weir & down the other side for a sticky. I've been told there's fish here but they mustn't like my steak & bread as I haven't any other bait.

There's no attachment name showing on my screen Ethanol...but I am a keen movie fan and I have seen "The Sundowners" a few times.
