Dapto to Emerald Queensland

Hi this is my first time into the Grey Nomads I will be making my first caravan trip to Emerald Qld and was wondering what would be the best Route from Dapto NSW along the Golden Highway, New England or the Coast I will be leaving on the 19th June

Hi Padjero and welcome.

From Dapto up to Singleton is mostly dual highway once leaving though to Emerald via the New England will be a mix of roads with lots of scenery to take in more or less once passed say Scone the road will be come noticeably quieter. There will be some hills but nothing a modern vehicle can't handle with very good rest areas along the way. Deepwater bakery for a salad roll is a good treat. For a stop over Wallabadah, Deepwater are good. Muswellbrook Show Ground was OK, there is a few more on this track though Qld to Emerald check your camp book.

All the way up the coast to Gladstone would not be my pick as there is so much more traffic but the road from the coast to Emerald is very good.

You mentioned the Golden Valley Highway which in general is in good condition  but that would be taken you further away from your destination. Just been out that way Cassillis Bowls Club and Binnaway are 2 low cost camp areas, throw in Jerrys Plains also.

The other way is to Singleton, turning off at Willow Tree running up though Gunnedah to Narrabri, Moree all reasonable flat running to Emerald. We have not camped on this road so no advice.

Enjoy your trip and I hope this has helped. Ralph.
