am i being cheeky ( rude ) by asking

I have been checking out this site for a while and really taking an interest in the places everyone is posting about BUT I have no idea where most of these places are so have to google. I know I am just being lazy ( isn't that part of retirement though) but is it possible for people to at least include a state when they mention these places please. :)

If you go into Free and Budget Camping subforum Jackie, you will find they are separated into states.
That's why it's important that places should be put in there. I get lost too.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

I was a bit slow navigating around the site too. Welcome from a new nomad (4-5 weeks)

Hi Jackie. Welcome to this great and usually very happy site for all us wanderers:)

Yes, it is a pain when people post really great things about places they have found in the wrong place - and those of us that have been on this site for long enough to know better, continue to do so. I guess its because we think its so GREAT, that it wont be seen by many people in any of the other threads here in the Forum. And worse still when they don't say what State and what part of that State:)

If you should ever (and hopefully you will) come across great places to stay - you can (not supposed to) post it under this thread, then copy it and paste it again on the Free and Budget Camping area that Marj has told you about. That way everyone gets to hear about it and you have also made it readily available by pasting it in the correct place. This General Forum thread has so many new posts that after about 2 weeks they have disappeared with the 1000s of others and all that great info has been lost.

You will find not saying where a certain town or locality is, is a common problem - if you have access to wikicamps which you can trial free for 14 days and then costs you a whole $8 to subscribe to, that the location thing is a common problem and causes lots of gripes from others

thanks for all the help. Bruce and Bev, our plan is to do the big circle ( hopefully starting out about mid May ) so I am hoping I will be in a position then to contribute some wonderful places to the correct place in this forum.....with pictures as soon as I figure out how to post them ( only took me 12 months to work out how to do the avatar )

Happywanderer, leaving from Brisbane going anti-clockwise. Hoping to only do 3 - 4 hours max per day when on the move. No plans, no agendas just stop for however long we want where ever we want

My plans exactly Jackie, heading out from Hervey Bay or there abouts. Have a couple visits to get in before I leave. One north in Rockhampton and one south in Redcliffe.

Jackie. You have the perfect plan - no real plan !!! That's the joy of being a real nomad. And the time travelling on the road is a good one. We try to do the same, although occasionally we've had to do 5-6 hours as the free camp we thought sounded so good has turned out to be terrible.
We have met so many retired couples with nothing else going in their life who travel 8 hours or so every day - the driver(s) don't get to see much of their surroundings.

Jackie, wait until you get answers giving product information. The ignorant think they are being helpful when they give an obscure brand of item ans say Google it (they are generally too lazy to use the shift key and just type google as well.) These lazy types could find a link to include with their answer much easier than the person answering the question can find that link. Then to expand that one, sometimes they just supply a link to the home page and it's often not clear where to find the item in the huge web site, if the answerer could have done another few clicks he/she could have given some useful answer with their link.

Even when you give a full link the respondents don't read your reply and repeat your link.

Then we could go on about those who do not use the shift key when they should or use a spell checker and other things but that would involve many 10s of centimetres in this thread.

Jackie the longer you dabble in newsgroups the more shortcomings you are going to find in these forums. Don't get too disheartened, just except that you will get very little information in precise form and without having to check it or do a lot of more research.
