Previously there was some discussion about buying glasses of the internet. I have searched the forum but cannot find the threads.
So can anyone point me in the right direction, either by referring me to the previous discussion, or those who have successfully bought some by the net give some good places to go to.
I am interested in multi focal pescription glasses not just single focus lenses. Getting the frame to fit OK ??
Yeoeleven posted just recently that he was waiting on glasses to arrive, that he had bought online. Posts in Solos, will look and see if I can find the thread. Back in a minute.

Zennioptical are about as cheap as you can get. My big brother uses them and has never had any problems - about 1/4 the cost of local ones and probably made in the same factory.
My daughter has poor eysight and has to regularly upgrade her glasses at usually over $300 a set. She tried the cheapo Specsavers but had nothing but problems with frame breakages even on replacements under warranty.
She got her new prescription and I ordered a set from Zenni as a trial as the all up cost was only $39.95US delivered to Perth !
Anyway they took around 3 weeks to arrive but she is amazed at the quality compared to Specsavers, and will now get her future glasses from Zenni, in fact she has ordered a second pair now as she cannot work without her glasses so a spare pair will be good.
I have read of the odd disgruntled customer but hey for he money it's worth the gamble. I'm going for a test too and I'm going to try their Titanium frames, will see how it goes.

How do you get the prescription from the optician?
You just have to ask them, it is YOUR prescription. They rely on people not being game to ask them. I have even rung them and get the script figures over the phone.
How do you get the prescription from the optician?
When you ask for a copy of your prescription, make sure the optician signs it because if there is a problem with the lens made from the script and there is no signature on the script then you have no comeback.

So true, meant to mention that Denis.

The eye test is paid for by medicare so in fact is yours to ask for.
Once the test is completed it is your choice where you have your specs made, only they don't tell you because there are big profits for them with the en-sell if they can.

True very true !
I have always asked for my perscription for years. It is never signed, just a computer printout by the person on the front desk !! This is the first time I have intended to get some glasses off the internet. Thanks for the discussion.
Good glasses are expensive that's for sure as I have just purchased some, But I lack confidence in internet suppliers so buy from in store optometrists, perhaps I should investigate the internet as 2 pair of titanium framed half glasses (reading & distance) were over $400 each and a pair of standard size transition distance glasses were over $500.

Just had a look at what Zenni do these for - titanium half frame progressive, 25 styles to choose from cost from $40-50 plus delivery, so max about $60 all up. Makes you wonder.
