OK, this is a 1st post from a Newbie Solo Transient apparently thats what i am!! Have been on the road for 6months and learnt so much, Murphy's Law what can go wrong will go wrong travelled outback NSW and Vic, loved the Grampians but more especially Vic Alps, Bright, Mt Buffalo, despair that Vic Parks have lost the plot as well, now charging $38!! for use of a drop toilet and book online if you can!
I am seeking advice/recommendations on heading North from NSW mid N.Coast yet away from the busy coastal areas, I am self contained in a single axle off road caravan with a trusty Pajero 4WD. New to fishing and love bushwalking.
All advice/suggestions and places to avoid are most welcome, thank you

Me, I head to Townsville to be with Older Daughter and grandchildren. I stay in my van outside. I have booked a new site this year, in the front drive not down the side of the house. I have been going up there for the last 3 years now and this year is no different. I will be arriving there early May and stay until late September at this stage then head to the southern states again.

For the past 3 years I have been travelling north up as far as the Tablelands and spending time at Wuruma Dam, this year I plan several months at Wuruma and expect to be there within the next week or so.
There are several Grey Nomads from the forum also planning to be there during March and on.
You will be most welcome to join us, drive past Eidsvold towards Monto and look for the Wuruma Dam signs.
Head inland from where you are, and visit the Warrumbungles NP, near Coonabarabran. Excellent walks - try the Grand High Tops circuit. Very pleasant campground with some powered sites. We have stayed there a couple of times for the walking - but I do not know the current situation re walks and camping after the bad fires of a couple of summers ago. But well worth checking out.
From there you could meander across to Lightning Ridge, which is a great place to spend a few days looking around. We stayed last time out on Lorne Station and the managers there let us go walking around on the station tracks - quite pretty and old mining relics and the like to see.
Head on up into Qld and go to Carnarvon Gorge NP, north of Roma. Only place to stay is at Takkarakka Caravan Park, which is a bit pricy - but worth it for the access to the NP, with a few great short and long walks. The more remote Mt Moffit section of that NP may be feasible for your rig and offers more chances of on-foot exploration.
After that, you could try inland fishing at Lake Maraboon, near Emerald. The nearby gemfields around Rubyvale or The Willows are interesting to visit.
As are the Longreach and Winton areas. We once camped about 120kms south of Winton, at the old Opalton mining area. Can get info about that at the gem shop in Winton - re camping out there. Wonderful camping out in the mulga scrub country, away from the crowds. Quite a fascinating area.
From the Winton area, you could head across to Boulia - maybe visiting another NP on the way - Diamantina NP. We used to go walking around the jump up areas behind the Hunters Gorge camp area. And fishing for yellowbelly in the waterhole.
Then maybe north from Boulia to Mt Isa through some dramatic country. Go either via Cloncurry and Burke and Wills RH to Adels Grove/Lawn Hill NP - or else via the road west, then north via Thorntonia and Riversleigh to the same place - depending on road conditions at the time. Some great walking at Lawn Hill NP. You can hire a canoe there and paddle the Gorge - not to be missed. If staying at Adels Grove, you can fish the creek for barra, sooty grunters etc.
From Adels Grove, north on the stations roads to Kingfisher Camp, on Bowthorn Station. Great place to camp. Fishing in the Nicholson River, walking and driving exploring.
