Ok, where is the time going, could someone tell me please?
This is my first update here in "General" for some time so none in the "Greens Lake" section now.
Well, another week has gone by here at Greens Lake Central VIC and a few more GN have left the building, leaving, as this update goes to press 5 members of the GN's.
The last week has seen the weather gods turning up the temp knob a little and we have been getting some very high 30's and one day even hit 41. Wind? Well a few days of very little wind so that has been very welcome by us all. The weather gods are saying we are in for some more hot days ahead so that will be good. Friday night and it tried very hard to rain but just some drizzle really, it also tried very hard again Saturday morning but no go. The sun was out by midday and heated up very quickly and today, Sunday is looking to be a bit on the hot side.
Most people here at the lake are spending time in the lake itself to cool off. It's great to just stand out in the water up to your neck with hat and sunnies on just looking back at all the different set ups lining the water's edge and further back. We really are lucky to have such a range of choices. There is everything here from a person sleeping in a car or swag next to a car right through to huge 5th wheelers and massive buses either built as a motor home or converted school buses. Just great to see them all doing and enjoying the same things. Well done happy campers.
Last weekend had the usual weekend warriors arrive and all enjoying their boats, jet ski's, kayaks, sail boards etc and just mucking around at waters edge. One thing you really notice here at the lake is the number of families that play together and the number of young and some are real young, like around 4-5 year olds learning for the first time how to ski. I have seen kids start for the very first time, falling off as they try to stand up etc to doing the full length of the lake out further a few days later, Great stuff! This weekend has been no different.
Back to GN's, there has been many happy hours as usual and many world problems solves as always happens when a group of people gather chatting over a drink or three. More friendships have been formed and I'm sure contact details exchanged for future reference.
Things are now starting to slow a little here but will soon pick up again in time for the next long weekend in a few weeks then in readiness for Easter. Shut the front gate! EASTER already, bugga, wont be long and the Xmas crowds will be arriving.
Me, well I am starting to think forward a little as time is getting close to my annual northern migration to Townsville to see my daughter and grandchildren. My grandson keeps telling me he will see me tomorrow, mmm, he has a couple of months to wait still but I am missing them and I tell you that for free.
I have a house sit to do over on the South NSW Coast first so from here I head back to the dealer in Melbourne I got the van from for it's service and get the final things sorted that need sorting, visit my other daughter and try and work in a visit to GN friends for a couple of days as well. Then over to the coast then hit the highways and byways to Townsville. I plan to leave Townsville about mid September at this stage and from there, mmmmm, you tell me cos I the heck don't know, way too far away to even think about.
For those that don't read the "Greens Lake" section of the forum I have been having a few teething problems with the new van, the major one was the fridge. When on gas and the wind blowing from that side of van the gas flame got blown out every time. This started in November 2014 and only got fixed two weeks ago. I say fixed as they fitted a new modified flu system to my fridge they are now fitting to the new model. That has worked so back to having a cold fringe again.
I am now enjoying my new home as it should be. It certainly makes a big difference when everything works as it should.
I was about to post this update, shut the front gate! Speed skiers arrived early to test out their prop etc. What can I say, FAST, SPEED and very bright coloured ski suits to boot. What a way to start the day.
I made a dash myself and the big beast (camera) was quickly set up and snapping away.
The posting of this update was delayed as I then had to down load pics onto the laptop and downsize so I could add a couple. Unfortunately still camera's don't do much for fast moving speed boats and very fast skiers.
Well, that's about it for this update so until next time, keep safe everyone.
A few pics as usual are included below.
As I said, different set ups to be seen.
Not another sunrise......sorry but this is most days this time of year......sad aint it.
Just a quick pic of busy Aussie Day weekend.
The boat and the skiers might be nuts but sure is great to watch
Faster, faster, faster.
I said faster
If you can't go faster I'm finished.
Edits.....sorry kept knocking wrong button
