I'm not sure what the answer is too but maybe they could run a hose from the Wonthaggi Desalination Plant, it doesn't get used for anything else.

Maybe the answer is a pipe from somewhere though.

Doug
There is an irrigation channel that runs behind the Caravan Park at Lake Cooper.

Just past the Park is a spillway leading from the Channel to the Lake, with large locked gates holding the water in the Channel.

Seems GMW over the last few years just does not have excess water to put into the Lake.

There was, many moons ago a North South Pipeline built, if that is still all there maybe it could be redirected somehow to help out.

I know I think big and expensive but just a thought.

I heard from from family down there that GMW wanted to charge the water ski club an arm and a leg to put water in to Lake Cooper.

It was way beyond the ability of the water ski club to pay those amounts of money and the GMW won't put water into Lake Cooper for recreational users who can't/won't pay so an impasse exists

Pity about all the wildlife that is killed in the meantime. Not to mention the managers of the caravan park that used to do  reasonable business over the summer period and social impact to the local residents

Fondly remember my parents taking me down to Lake Cooper on a Hot Summers Sunday afternoon for a refreshing splash 60 years ago

Some photos of Lake Cooper taken today on my way back to Greens. Note the boat ramp a great distance from the water.

GMW should put water in there just for the sake of the fish which are in a line dead now all around the edge.

Same problem with another one up by Torrumbarry, I read in the local paper yesterday.

The lake is part of an overflow system...

If the channels are overflowing then the water has to go somewhere.. I part of a Flood Prevention system...

Small Shallow Lakes are not a Good spot to part water as then tend to get hot quicker therefore the evaporation is higher..

So I don't see an issue with this..

The Fish are most likely carp which is no real lose..

You cant have water for farmers and still have more for "the environment". Whichever way they choose, somebody misses out unless its been a very wet season.

I was told (and don't ask me where cause I can't remember) that when Lake Cooper floods, it floods Corop and has cost them a lot of compensation in the past so they keep it low now and keep more in Greens. !!!!
