Friday and was offered a drive to Rochester with Paul and I needed to go to the ATM plus get a couple of items from IGA, all good. Happy Hour was at Rob and Sally's (rosa) caravan and most turned up just after 4pm. We had more Grey Nomad's arrive Dennis and Yvonne(exa41) together with their ****zu Mason. We had a quiet evening with no fire because of a no fire ban.
Saturday was a hot and muggy day with rain in the evening, was prepared and caught 2 large rectangular buckets of water. We were surprised to see Roy (highwayman) arrive late afternoon. Sunday and Colleen (ame45) has arrived for a while Mezzie called in to visit for the day showing us her new vehicle.
Hot and sunny, just as I like it. We had visitors David and Carol (plendo) who came bearing gifts, lunch was served at around noon. David and Carol brought lunch in the form of chicken pieces can't tell exactly what they were but they were nice and also icecreams all round. I had a couple of dips in the lake, once with Dennise on her pumped up air beds and then after lunch to cool off.
After deciding not to change over the motor in the bus, I made a Cruise Booking for June and I to cruise the Southern Pacific on a P & O vessel the Pacific Dawn. This may come as a surprise but we discussed it last month on the Gold Coast and February was chosen. Now seems like a good time to book because most of the cabins have already been booked but the rest discounted.
Monday was a dismal day weather wise and ended up with a rain storm and high winds some tenters had a hard time and had to go into a nearby town to replace their damaged tents. A fold up boat was dragged up on to the lake side but blown away as the storm hit, the boat was recovered but not the seats and other contents. My awning was fine but some others suffered damage.
A quiet day overall ending up with a birthday party for Colleen at her van, very well attended with all the Grey Nomads camped here in attendance. Later Billeee, Jules, Paul, Dennise and I could be found outside Billeee's van enjoying a quiet time reflecting on the day and the nomadic life in general.
Wednesday and several of us went out into the big world and offered to get provisions for those who stayed at home. Billeee and Jules had a big day out arriving back at 9pm after visiting home in Frankston and a friend in Seymour.
Thursday and more Grey Nomads arrived at Greens, Dave (Glenelg), Jimbo and Lyn (travelling Lyn). Roy (highwayman) left us heading back to Melbourne. Spent the day going from home to home talking with the occupants and eventually happy hour arrived. There were 2 happy hours one with Dougwe infront of the Chieftan where Norma, Heather, Jonathon, Dave and Lyn gathered. A CD of Jonathon singing was played as background music and very mellow it was. The other happy hour was infront of Rod and Sally's caravan where Billeee, Jules, Jimbo, Roy, Paul, Colleen and Sarg gathered with the usual photographs and frivolity. I was present at both happy hours for a time. In the evening Billeee,Jules, Dennise and myself enjoyed the time at Billeee's place. John
John just reading this I have realised why I enjoy your blogs. I too write but share with few. My writing talks about my laundry on the road, internet or lack of, which road to choose and why. What I had for dinner, what I was thinking at the time. etc etc. You write from true experience and it is real, there is no hot air here just reality and that is what makes it so good. So please continue sharing as I think your real experience is something that often we don't hear about in people's writing. We usually only hear about the tourist trip and that is not reality for me. Life as a day to day experience is far more valuable to me.
