Can someone please tell me what to buy when purchasing a caravan what is needed for traveling around Australia will be purchasing caravan next year not sure on what we need eg: more batteries

Batteries, batteries, batteries and Solar, Solar are probably very very important if you want to "Alternative" (Free) camp.

Apart form those it's really personal choice from there IMO.

Whatever you do/decide, enjoy the journey cos it's a great life style and I tell you that for free.

I have a Motor Home. I run 235 watts of solar panels, a 20 ampere PV Controller and 2 x 6 volt Century 225 amp/hour deep cycle batteries, connected in series to give 12 volt. For charging, main source is solar panels. I have a 240 volt charger for when I'm plugged into power. Be sure to have a cable installed between your house batteries and your vehicle battery. This will enable charging of the house batteries while you are on the move. Adequate cable size is important for a 12 volt installation to reduce voltage drop. Your caravan manufacturer or auto electrician can guide you on this aspect of the installation.
