First post - Glad to be here.

Hi everybody.

After around 30 years with my wife and having 15 of them being used to caravaning,

I find having to now caravan on my own quite a daunting task. Hopefully I can do this and have it help overcome the current sadness in my life.

One of the fears that I will have to overcome is that of being lonely on the road. I had always envisioned life to have a different ending, but it was not to be.

I have been encouraged though by reading through the different posts here and I'm sure it has helped me come closer to getting on track now.

So much great information here, not to mention the great people, places and stories.

Looking forward to being able to head off again with the van for the first time away by myself before too long, and hopefully enjoying it as I always have in the past.

Nice to be here, thanks, and hello to everybody.

John

Sorry to hear that John, and welcome to this wonderful forum. I hope you can get back out there and enjoy, even though it is not how you envisaged it.

Welcome to the group John ..

There are many others (incl me) out on the roads that have experienced similar circumstances and now really enjoying life .. because we all are different, we will find our comfort zones different. Until you start taking small trips and gain that support group of people that you can share in, it would be difficult to gauge your own well-being .. get your current friends involved in your support group as well.
You do already have the benefit of being an experienced "traveller", so that will be second nature to you .. small bites of the cake mate !

Lots of folk on here John .. lots of general experience and help available  ..

Welcome meetoo, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I am on the list of having lost my lovely wife 3.5 years ago and tarvelling on my own. Even though you travel on your own, really John you are never lonely. Just say hi to people as you move around and most will chat, even ask you to join in happy hours etc. Don't wait for them to make the first move though mate.

Join in here on the forum, tell us the area's you are at or going to be and someone might make contact through the PM system to arrange a meet. I do that and have met many great people from this forum.

The maine thing is enjoy whatever you do or wherever you are.

Thanks for those nice reply'ssmile

Well the first thing I will do is get some 12 volt power organized. Always stayed in caravan parks but it's time for a change and do things differently. The caravan is a few years old so does not have a 12 volt system. I like the van and it has been very well looked after so no need to get another van, just update the electrics.
