New bee going to greens

Hi every one;

Well i've been reading this forum for the last few years, have posted a few posts , and have also read quiet a few posts as well. Now it has come to my attention that, we , meaning my wife , myself are at a loss for what to do with our xmas break, over the last couple of years we have stayed just out of Bendigo at Marong caravan park and totaly enjoyed a few days away from the rat race. Now things have moved on and the park has changed hands and a lot of our friends have now moved on. So what to do for our christmas break. Last year we traveled over to Victor Harbour, and while we had a good time the cost was , well what can i say but bloddy exspencive, now that one has to watch one money,.

So i have been reading on what every thing has been said about Green Lakes, and all good reports????

Questions.....

What is the lake like at xmas time, and yes i know it would be just about full.

I have read that there is no power, and fair enough. but what about water and the avalability of fresh water. My caravan has two 80 Lt tanks but we would have to be very carfull with it when we free camp. What is the proceedure for when one wants to top up the tanks ??? . My caravan also has it's own shower and toilet, but on limited water a shower would be out of the question, unless one is pluged into town water.

Power is not a problem as i have solar and battery back up, so all good there.

After a couple of days the toilet will need to be empyed and i also use nappy san in the holding tank, would that be ok to dump in the community toilet system ???

What about shade ??

Gray water, bucket and trees or just let it run onto the ground ??

Hi -you will be made most welcome at Greens - some of your questions I will attempt to answer
1. Water - you can use the water from the lake for washing, showering etc., there is a tap in the toilets, but you need a tap key. Some people drink it after filtering well, with no effects.

2. Cassette cannot be emptied in public toilet - trouble is people who use products other than nappy soaker , empty in there as well, and ruin the system.

3. Grey water, trees love it.

You can get fresh water from either Girgarre, where there is also a dump point. You can also get water at Rochester in the show grounds, no dump point there though. There is a dump point at Aysons reserve near Rochester as well. There are other places as well, someone at Greens will be able to let you know where.

Enjoy your time at Greens, can be a fun place. Might see you there.

How,

Great place Valiant.

You won't regret it if you venture this way and I tell you that for free.

Water is fine if filtered from the tap, No Greens Belly here.

At that time of year or any time if your brave there is no need for a shower. Just a good old camp wash each day as if you are like me you will end up in the lake a few times a day anyway. I will often have a dip about 10.00pm just before bed time. Great.

If you empty each day there is no need for nappy treatment or other products. No chance of clogging the system either cos it's not that much.

If you do come here I will put the kettle on. Or there is stronger if preferred.
