Just what I was going to post MJ - having read Blue's posts since he came on the forum, he comes across as a fairly aggressive, macho man - maybe before he submits his posts, he should read them back - or get someone to read them for him - he may realise he writes in a very abrasive manner - which grates on some people. Just saying.

Thanks everyone, well not one anyway for the kind comments and support unfortunately they haven't changed the webmasters thoughts. Only hers and a few others buy the sounds of it. Oh well.

The last few days have been very sad indeed for the forum and I know I have spoken to many people over the years and through that they have joined up. Gee I have spoken to most people here at "The Lake" over the time I have been here and most were and I say WERE going to join but not now. They didn't like the decision and the few extremely nasty comments. Especially the one on this thread. They can live without that.

I hope Cindy does more than just talk to the person that had a personal attack. I know what has been done in the past.

Today will be another sad day in GN history too, I feel it in the bones.

Just looking at Big Gorilla's profile - he was also "requested" to change his avatar at the same time as Wombat and Dougwe - the "offending" picture was on his avatar on 5th October this year (before that I believe), and there had been no adverse reaction then - now 20 days later - it has to go!

So as someone stated above - the "offended" people must be relative newbies, yes?

At our age life may not have that kind on our journey..
Surely it's easier to add their situation rather than scoff at others..
In my case I suffer big time with arthritis but other than that things are fine!!

I couldn't give a damn about what photos, avatars are posted. I know any sort of girlie posters, in the workplace, were considered offensive & sexist & banned years ago. Has anybody considered there could be legal consequences for the forum moderator if this type of thing was not removed.

I thought about leaving over this issue. However, I will stay , not because of pride or a stick it up em attitude, I will stay because this is a great forum, with fantastic people and some fun. Poor Cindy had a tough decision and made it, agree or not ITS HER FORUM she is paid to manage it. Frankly I didnt agree with the decision, but it doesnt make a scrap of difference, I dont agree with Abbott, or the Pope, or Obama, the fact that I dont agree wont make a bit of difference in the big game.

Like anything else on this rock we have our share of d***heads who want to bignote themselves and stir the pot, but most of them have the courage of their convictions and make themselves known. I think the thing that boils my billy over this is that the complainers are nowhere to be seen and have probably left the scene and the devistation of dear friends and great contributors leaving.

Its sad when wonderful folk leave, I will miss them.

Yes, too true, not forgetting the copyright laws as well. People post anonymously, and any breaches can result in action to the forum owner.

I see so many posts thanking Cindy for the forum and what she does and can't understand why people are not backing her on something that is so trivial in the scheme of things, particularly in light of the opening post. Cindy is the most tolerant moderator I've seen on any forum.

hi billllllleeee, your comments have made me smile and laugh. laughter is the best medicine. and dougwe and wombat and jules47 and bg all have or have had avatars that brighten my day and things you post also brighten my day. so thankyou everyone, you are lightening the load by making my day happiers. I suspect this is the case for many people here. for this reason alone, the avatars should stay.

Look, for anyone thinking of resigning, DON'T!

Take a break from the forum for awhile, a week, a month, a year, then make your decision about that, I know feelings are running high at the moment about the Avatars and the minority that have caused this but it will pass, why give them the satisfaction of seeing you all leave?

For myself, Wombat whatever you do I want to thank you for all the help you have given me and others in the past on this forum with our avatars and other matters, you are a most valuable and helpful member of GN IMHO, and I for one would not like to see you (or any of the others) leave and just say take a break and rethink things out further down the track if you must.

Gerty, your Aunt has a lot of wisdom, thanks for the post.

Janette, I don't wish to start another argument but what seems to be trivial to you may not be so trivial to others like Doug, Wombat, BG and others including me. Hence the fuss. I agree with with you that Cindy is the most tolerant moderator but I feel she has erred in the handling of this issue. The correct manner in my opinion is put forward by John (Yeoeleven) in another post.

If there are legal issues then we should be made aware of them, after all as members, we are part of the forum too.

I am feeling the need to add my opinion ..at my age it's all I really have to offer..I don't really get myself into the poltics of things ..dougwe we met thanks to oldboar I consiider a person of good character.and you like terry I took an instant liking to.as you know we don't get to share our selfs too often . But I myself would enjoy your company & those I have yet not met..if you are still at greens in a week time I will be happy to have a sit down with you & share myself with you. I don't want to know what prompts such unhappy comments .i see blue say toughen up .have seen complaints & opinions made by others .i support their right to make & " bypass" them ..I would like them all to stay ...there was a liddie once douge blue I would be pleased if you all stayed so I for one maybe learn more respect & tolerance .ken gave me a gift I present it with pride on the back of my home all over Queensland . I didn't get to meet 6000 members nor had many responses but I know I was part of a group .we have a forum it's nice to see people like billeeeeee who uses it to its fullest keep on billeeeeee ..dougewe I hope we can meet again greens as a special meaning for me apart from not liking thong tree there is a history right there . I was using it some time ago on the forum Jules and had no complaints about it only stopped using it as I change my avatars from time to time and had kept it for any future use/avatar change. Wombat had also superimposed my face and one time member Gubby's face on it.

My current avatar (the preacher) was done by Wombat, can't remember why now though... confuse hmm

Yes there have been some not so nice posts from a variety of posters BUT that variety is what makes this a valuable and enjoyable Forum the success that it is.
