A must have

After spending three weeks away on our first trip and enduring many a chilly night, the coldest almost down to zero degrees inside the van. The heater jumped to the top of our must buy list and this is our install result. Now looking at fans for the hot weather which is just around the corner. Bessie.

It's a 12volt Russian made Planar diesel heater 2KW and little noisy at the moment so ordering air and exhaust mufflers. Bessie.

Yes we fitted ourselves and before cutting any holes checked and double checked, the only thing we had to do was reposition a gas pipe, aside from that it was pretty much straight forward. The control switch we placed next to the bed light switch. Having a hole saw kit made it a lot easier and much neater. Bessie.

it doesn't look like you mounted your fuel pump on the rubber mounts that should have been supplied

get the exhaust muffler is a big YES.. we made sure we got one in the Full kit

have never heard of an inlet muffler for them though..

No rubber mounts were provided for the pump and after first start up due to the clicking noise have added a rubber backing pad which has made all the difference which was not shown in the picture. Bessie.

ah, no worries Bessie

I've got the proper rubber mounts in mine.. mind you, I forgot to put them in at the start but they soon went in..

im still thinking of making another bracket for it.. like a rubber block followed by a block of wood and then the rubber mounts again.. its not too bad now but one day when I im bored..

Does the inlet to the heater, that heats the van, take the air from within the "under bed" cavity?

Yes the air is taken from under the bed, we were going to put in a vent in the side of the bed but no need to as there are plenty of gaps around the mattress lifting device. Bessie.

classic... biggrin

I first tried to stay warm using a Generator.. but I always felt guilty turning it on.. I found that I had to get a bigger generator but it made even more noise and burnt more fuel..

then came the Diesel Heater.. OMG>. .. magic!!

great heat, a lot quieter for those outside and it uses stuff all fuel..

oh, and the fan motor only runs on 4 watts so we can easily run it off our van batteries smile
