Club Lounge quandry???

Jayco tell me to keep the club lounge to put back in when we change the van. Trouble is storing it. I reckon that the van will sell even better with the new lounge chairs. What do you all think? And, what would it be worth?

So that's what a club lounge looks like! I have one in PJ but I didn't know what it was called. If storage is a problem, sell it. Price is determined by demand. Someone doing up a van might want it. But my guess regarding price is probably around the $500 mark. If storage is not a problem then it's probably wise to offer the next buyer the option of the original layout or the new one.

How, Paul,

A lot different I think but similar in a way, I took out the seats and table at the front of the Avan changing from two birth to one. In their place a bolted a bench with shelves under. I have kept the table etc and when selling they can be offerd as an option, just a case of undooing 4 bolts and back to two birth, so the books say anyway. I have always said if you go away in my Avan married you will be divorced within a month, I reckon my Avan is too small for two.

While I was picking colours and "stuff" for my new Den the dealer was more concerned for me about resale value than me being solo. What if I met someone etc etc. Same with getting one single bed slightly smaller than the other. I went with his advice in the end as I have full confidence in him.

After seeing your changes Paul I reckon younhave added value. Your wizbang seats are becoming more common and maybe the club lounges etc might be an option only, in the near future.

so what do you sit on now when in your van?

do you have your club lounge in the driveway for happy hour?

to answer your question before Dougwe has a go about going off topic I think it will sell better without the club lounge.

The salesman was right to be concerned about resale value
I have seen this often in boats where someone builds or refits with their own ideas that are not conventional
Also when refitting the finish may not be restored
In most cases these changes lose the sale or thousands of dollars on what can be realised
So think carefully before you get in the wrecking ball and make sure the finish is as good as the surroundings
I am not saying don't do it just saying be careful and give it a lot of thought

Personally, I'd sell it. I agree with Dougwe, many people are removing the lounges or getting new vans built with recliners.

Also, could you post a pic of how the van looks now? I have completely removed my lounge and bought me a whizz bang super comfy recliner and in the next week someone is going to do the cabinetry etc over the wheel arch. I've researched it thoroughly re compromising wall support etc and i'm really keen to see/read what you have done.

And while I'm hijacking your post (sorry!) a caravan repair man has put me onto a great Facebook group dedicated to selling and buying all things caravan and camping, no selling charges, unlike eBay.

Thanks in advance,

MJ

Like this atm, still sorting what we need to do. Removing the Club lounge has no effect on any structural components of the van.

Paul Well done..

Re the refit... Make a Box to go over the Wheel Arch and to enclose the Cable's..

Shift the Power Point up and Place a screen over the Hole beside the power point..

The chair Look Comfy.. Make sure you have some way of locking them down when you on the road...
Don't want them flying around if you hit the brakes hard..

If you want an honest opinion, with a little tidy up, with the new comfy chairs, the van would sell no problem, lots of us oldies are realising that comfort in a caravan is far more important than keeping it totally original, so long as it's been achieved in a professional looking way, nothing worse than a "do it your selfer" bodge job !

We have the same chairs as standard in our 5th wheeler, and they are not cheapies like some try to get away with, so you have actually added value.

As for the removed item ! well from my experience trying to sell some top quality lounges and other furniture when we sold our house, forget it, no one wants to pay much for second hand items of real furniture let alone a caravan club lounge, maybe a budding motor home builder might be interested, but it would have to be cheap IMO.

If it was mine I'd take it to the tip recycling area, but that's me.

Hi Pam,

FB group is "CARAVAN & CAMPING Buy, Swap & Sell". It's a closed group so you have to send a request to the administrator, doesn't take long tho.

Cheers,

MJ
