According to the description on the card (google is your friend) it reversing lights, but I'd wager someone with a Jayco will come alomng and explain what it does in their Caravan.
Can anyone tell me what the black wire to pin 2 does?
Aussie Paul.
Hi Paul on my Jayco the black wire is the aux wire,I pulled the black and the white wire out of my 12pin plug and fitted them to a Anderson Plug ,I had a problem with the 12pin plug getting hot on the Aux wire and melting the plug on the Aux terminal only,I think it was my fault because the wire was loose in the terminal,It won't come loose in the Anderson plug,no trouble since.

Hi Lance, does that black/aux run the fridge or the charger to the house battery?
Paul on my Jayco that aux wire (black wire ) runs the fridge while I am driving and charges the house battery, battery charger only chargers the battery when on 240 volt, also the aux wire charges the breakaway battery as we'll when driving, hope you can understand what I am saying.

Ok Lance, yes I understand that. I wonder what the pink wire does? This is a pic of the other side of my Jayco 12 pin plug.

Guessing by your last picture Paul, your aux wire is the pink one,if you have a test light plug your plug in and stab the pink wire ,make shore your vehicle is not in reverse, and also it looks like the big terminals have been used for earth and aux, witch makes sence.

Thanks Lance, a job for me tomorrow then.. I still have to work out what the black and pink wires do.

Still at it!!! Pink drives the fridge when tug engine is running. Our Dometic RM 2453/2553 fridge does not have any indicator for when it is working on 12 volt or AC.
I cannot as yet work out what the black wire on pin 2 ACTUALLY does. No power from Tug at any time and have not followed it through the van.
We are heading to Apollo Bay this Thursday to use the second 5 days of our Travel Auction voucher. I will take multimeter etc and have a look while away. Looking to free camp on the way home on north end of Lake Colac, Meredith Park. All this new grandchild baby stuff has tired me out!!!

Paul if that black wire indercates on the photo as being reversing lights, put your tug in reverse with ignition on don't have the motor running and check if you have reversing lights, and a free camp on your way home from Apollo bay ,try the one at Inverleigh ,toilets over the road near the pub.

Did that Lance and no power. I don't think van has reversing lights?? I had better double check, so stand by.
Checked it again Lance and no power at any time. I got under the van and someone else has been there among the electrical before me!!!! Pink is definitely fridge. Black then joins into a red and I reckon ends up at the Setec under the fridge. If I am correct then I will need to run another heavy wire from the tug battery to this black wire to charge the house battery whilst driving. I will probably change from pin 2 to the heavier pin 9 for a start and then possibly an Anderson plug.
Paul, have you thought of by passing the 7 pin plug for charging the Van battery and run some 6B&S cable from the tug battery to a Anderson plug at back of tug then run some 6B&S cable to the van battery charger. I have done that and works a treat.

Paul if that wire what you call No 2 is the one for your fridge while driving Its not the most ideal thing to have your fridge is using close to 20 amp /hr and that cable is far to light for that I would recommend to install a separate cable from your main battery 6B&S with a Anderson plug as Our Indian Chief told you Uncle Doug and the same size cable (fused ) from house battery to fridge

John, the pink heavier wire definitely runs the fridge, I reckon the black number 2 wire is for the Setec charger to charge the house battery. I will find that out while we are away this weekend. There is a group of female spade connectors not being used as well. Bugger that we can't get wiring diagrams from Jayco.

you must have a place where all the wires come together where the fuses are
Maybe it is time to ask an auto electrician to have a look for you would not take them an half hour to work it out
It would safe you a lot of trouble

All the best with it my friend

I have a cousin who is an Auto Elec so I reckon that will be the go.
Came to Apollo Bay Thursday. Someone forgot to check all interior drawers etc locked, and the drawer with the glasses in came out onto the floor!!! My fault, I am told, for going around corners too fast!!! Anyway no real harm done. We will make fewer and fewer mistakes as we get our rythym going.
Surprised that battery voltage was down a bit. Thinking about it I reckoned the 240v Setec not working. Thought I must have mucked something up with all the wiring I was mucking around with earlier in the week. About to growl at myself when I realised the the fridge and Setec are now plugged in to a power socket behind Eril's chair now that the club lounge is out. Reached down and turned the power point on and the lights brightened up!!!!!!!!
This is our 5th trip away since Feb and gradually getting to know ins and outs of the rig set up.
Empitied the toilet cassette and now the red light is still on!! another little job to sort. Eril has gone to a market and I am resting and conducting smallish jobs around the place. Beautiful day here, about 22 and gentle breeze. Waiting for AFL to get under way and of course typing this post!!!
Interesting. Today I pulled the Setec out to try and follow some of the 12 volt wiring for the fridge and the Setec charger. Tagging stuff when I a sure of its function.
No 12 volt at fridge until vehicle started. Good news.
Hi Helpers, not much of my previous postings re subject was very accurate!!! Some guessing I imagine!!!
FACTS
Pin 11 Grey, runs the fridge when Pajero engine running
Pin 9 Pink, goes to the Setec charger as does Pin 5 Blue
How I did this was to disconnect the Aux in to the Setec and connected a long wire to the Aux wire and the other end of this wire thru multimeter and checked which pin was connected. Surprised to see pin 5, Blue (service blakes) connected to the Setec Aux input also.
So tug is running fridge when engine running, and NOT charging house battery when driving. How would I go shifting the Setec charger wire pin 9 to the fridge wire Pin 11? Where does the blue wire, pin 5, fit into all of this?
