Hi all, just picked up a new Silverline Outback towing with a 200 series Land-cruiser, my problem is when traveling the house batteries are not charging.
I have checked the wiring at the tug and power is getting through but nothing happening in the charging department. Any ideas. Charges fine with the 240 Volt.
I have a 2013 Jayco starcraft. As far as I understand there is no circuit to charge the house batteries from the tug, unless its changed with the new models, I would strongly suggest you talk to Jayco technical dept. My solar panel charges my batts on the move.
Safe travels

Hi Bob
WIthout having an identical van ,NO ONE can give you the correct answer
It could be any number of things , from wrong wiring to bad connections!
To find those will need a competantperson how they ned to be wired, but, since it is a new van, your FIRST move should be to contact the dealer or maker
If you or someone else starts playing around with the wiring & something goes wrong , any warranty could be void.
Yes, well i have tried ringing Jayco but they don't like to get back to you.
Where did you buy it? If its Adelaide phone the dealership repair mob at Dawes Road, they have been brilliant with me over the past 18 months. I have called the techo people in Melbourne a number of times and after a wait eventually got through.
Sorry to hear of that problem Casper.

You will find that the sources for charging your house batteries will be connection to 240v or solar or gennie. We have 200 Cruiser with Red Arc trickle charger. This allows fridge to be charged when vehicle is traveling or parked.
You should have a Setec charger under your bed that has 3 lights. Green for charging from 240v/ Orange when you are free camping or utilizing solar and Red when you have a problem.

I think it is under the fridge in our 2011, 24'Sterling. A ST35-II.

First thing to do is to see if you have 12 volt power to the caravan... then its time to explore the option of charging the batteries using a DC to DC charger...
Those clever gadgets will improve your caravan batteries ability to do their job so much better
Remember that a charger should be around 10% of the battery capacity...

The Setec system does not charge while you are driving, it charges the battery once you are hooked up to 230v. Our fridge runs off the Ute when we hook up to travel. I am putting in a 20amp DC/DC Charger which will charge my battery as we are driving. Solar charges the battery otherwise unless we are on mains power.
I have a new Jayco Silverline and asked the Jayco factory if the batteries charge while the van is being towed. Their advice is that the batteries are being charged via the number 2 pin so provided the tug is supplying power to that pin the batteries will be being charged. If you have power to the No.2 pin and the batteries are not charging take the van back to the dealer.
G'day Gus, I know that this thread is an old one, but do you still have your Silverline and is it an outback. We have just purchased a 21ft outback silverline and also a new ford
ranger xlt 2015, just wondering how it tows the van. I think the tare weight of my van is around 2700kg, obviously once loaded will be well over 3ton ?? starting to worry now will the ranger do it okay, or should I have bought a cruiser????
Look forward to hear back from you...................Cheers Kev.
