Interesting 10 days to say the least. Steep learning curve still... First free camp on the Vic/SA border at Serviceton. Wife made me take incorrect turn and we were late getting to camp, almost dark. I could not get gas hot water to work. Never mind sort it tomorrow. Did jot even get the generator out. We got to Adelaide CP mid arvo and settled in. I was in Adelaide to have some 3mm acrylic moulded into a gyroplane windscreen before heading to Loxton as part of a Travel Auction.
Now the electric hot water would not work!!! There is a power switch near the heater and a white switch with a red light beside it in the indoor fuse etc box. I thought the interior switch was the electric hot water supply only to find when I got the manual out to read it is part of the gas system. So, I had hot water on gas, BUT paying power I did not want to use my gas. I turned the gas off and turned the electric switch near the burner on, and waited and waited and waited!!! Bugger, must be the element!!! Anyway I had gas hot water for Eril. Eril went out and I thought that I should have a look at the solar voltage. I had brought my multimeter with me and I was realising that I still had so much to learn about our van and diesel Pajero.
I lifted up the bed and was perusing the battery, solar regulator etc and looked over towards the hot water service. I noticed a power point that had nothing plugged into it under the bed. Crawled under a bit further and found a lead with a 3 pin plug on it. The penny dropped, that lead led to the HWS. When Jayco were repairing my rear tail light moulding damage and chasing down the electric circuit breaker fault they must have left the HWS plug out!!!! So, cheap fix that one.
