Australians ???????
Permalink Closed

Thanks all, I was reluctant to post a thread on this, and it seems in this climate of political correctness that we are gagged by government and other organisations from speaking out on how we feel about what is happening in Australia and the rest of the world.

The world bent over backwards trying to pacify/appease the Nazi's before WW2 and look what happened there.

I believe we have a wonderful country and one to be proud of and worth protecting, those who think and act otherwise and have no loyalty to Australia have no place here.

Remember this saying;

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."   Edmund Burke.

I don't know what we can do at our age and level, but one thing we can do is not to remain silent on issues that concern us.

Let our local members know you are not happy with the "enemy within" who personify evil at it's highest level.   I want the Australia we all love and cherish back and don't want it destroyed before it is too late to do anything about it, something only our leaders can stop.

Sorry, I have said too much already, it just makes me angry and frustrated when I see what is happening. no

Here's a question for you Vic. I had a Welsh mother, Irish father, I was raised in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and am a naturalized Australian so what would my ethnic background be then?

I would call you an Aussie my friend.

Vic41, Never apologise unless you have done something wrong.

It's good to hear that you still get angry about things you disagree with and will take the time out of your life to speak your mind and try to talk what you feel is sense to others.

I respect your willingness to do that as it is a skill that I have left behind.

Some time back I made a conscious decision to stop watching the news and buying newspapers. All this activity was doing for me was making me hot under the collar and left me with a helpless feeling. It made me glad that I am in the second half of my life and not the first as I wouldn't want to live in a world where some of these things happen and NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE.

This is not a way to live so I decided to try the hermit approach.

I'm not referring specifically to the events that prompted this thread as I have no knowledge of the events you speak of.

As to the general discussion on being an Aussie, yes, I am an Aussie. It so happens that my parents were living in Canada when I was born. But of the 63 years I have been drawing breath, 50 of those years have been here in Australia. I moved here for the final time when I was 17. I left my friends and family behind to do so and travelled 12000 miles to arrive here with a suitcase of clothes and 100 bucks. I stood up in front of my peers and the mayor of the town where I lived, raised my hand and pledged allegiance to Australia.

Please do not call me a Canadian Australian or worse still a "New Australian". I've actually been an Australian longer that most of the younger generation whose sole claim to the title was that their parents lived here when they chose to have sex with each other. So who is the "New" Australian?

Now it's my turn to climb down off my soapbox.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

Cheers

Jim

No worries Jim and thanks for the advice.

I didn't raise the subject on who could be called an Aussie, others did.

As far as I am concerned I don't care where someone was born or emigrated from, if they embrace Australia as their own and contribute to the country that is all one can ask.

The thread in general is about those who have no time for Australia or Australians whether born here or otherwise but seek to embrace terrorism as a means of world domination with no loyalty to this country or it's way of life.

I may add they make it very difficult for those of the same ethnic background who are doing their best to contribute to our great society and are not interested in world domination at the expense of host countries and their citizens.

PS:  JRH is a personal friend of mine, so not having a shot at him, he knows where I am coming from.

You're not on your own Vic.

I loose plenty of sleep over exactly this and if I dare bring it up at home or with friends I'm called a grumpy old war horse.

Cheers

Another one here in total agreement on this issue you are either exclusively Australian without any loyalties to any other country, otherwise you are not an Australian and should not be entitled to any of the benefits of this fantastic country and if you become a terrorist fighting overseas then you are not welcome in my Australia.

My view

Political correctness that has gone stark raving mad, in truth this. A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. biggrin

The do googers and tree hugers gone the same way .

Politicians with carhoonas the size of a pea

And a Main stream media with on carhoonas also see point 1

at the end of the day it is two side arguing over how has the best imaginary friend biggrin

You need to do some serious work on your spelling if you want that post to be understood.
