The inland route follows the road north from Mareeba to Mt Molloy and on following any sign that says Cooktown. Impossible to go wrong.

The coastal route is up from cape Tribulation and requires 4WD, you could do that if you left the van behind.

Expect to get the bus back on Thursday so Friday will be fine,
