Not sure about the Butane fumes Vic, probably more like Oxygen depletion I reckon.

I have a small Butane heater and more than likely being using for a short time each morning in the very near future but ALWAYS with good ventilation and never while asleep.

You would have to wonder if they decided life wasn't worth it anymore. I think most people are aware of the dangers of small Butane/Gas heaters these days.

It seems to happen with different types of fuel heaters Doug during winter, because it's cold some block ventilation vents ect.

We had a case in WA in a campervan that was attributed to a gas fridge burnt gases, they had blocked all vents etc.

Very sad story... I was wondering about one of these type of heaters for the MH like Dougwe just to take the edge off but with an open door and only morning / daytime and never at night or while asleep.

Judy, just a window open is enough. I don't open the door of the Avan, brrrrrrrr.

In your case maybe the driver window open a little and a back one on the opposite side should be plenty.

Judy, I should have mentioned that I also have a small 5 fin column heater that can be safely on all night for when I have 240v available. I didn't bring it this time, just the Butane one. I will of course have it with me all the time in the very near future.

I had to practically beg a mate to leave a window open on his camper while using his little butane heater.

So far so good but I must say I'm very opposed to the things....

Judie and I would be devastated if something happened to him because of this...

I would only consider with windows and I always have 1 or 2 vents open as well and never at night just the mornings in winter the van is ok once sun comes up just freezing in the mornings.....you are right to be cautious ...Thanks

We were in Aldi last week and noticed they still had some Carbon Monoxide detectors left. We bought one and I mounted it in the van the day before this terrible event.

We won't have heaters or electric blankets in the Caravan.
We still cuddle after all these years.
