Today my wife took it upon herself to clean up a huge mess and i mean made by about 40 teenage boys & girls having a 17th birthday party Friday & saturday night at Lake Elphinstone ,she shamed another 5 of us to help out ,We collected some 15 plus bags of garbage ,bottles ,tents ,chairs etc etc.
Council came round after it was reported and saw it all and were going to send 2 workers out to clean it up the only had the fireplace to pick up as it was full off glass.
this was the only problem as they did behave and never bothered the campers

Well done to barrie and his good lady wife and the other campers on having taken the initiative and helped clean up the mess at the lake. It really makes you wonder what is going to happen to great places in the bush when gen Yers take over the world. I have always said that the baby boomer generation, assuming they missed the Vietnam War, were the luckiest generation to have ever lived. At least many of us have had the opportunity to see this great country whilst it's still in reasonable condition.
I worry about the teenagers of today. If they can't do the right thing & clean up the mess in their local 'back yard' how are they going to manage world affairs when it is their turn?

I have been worried about same for a number of years. At the risk of sounding 'old fashion', the problem started when some brainer decided that school terms should change from a three term year to a four term year. As well as having these 'pupil free' days. When this was announced, I predicted that kids were going to be stupid and all the other adjectives that goes with it. Guess I am proving to be right. To add insult to injury, there was a loose cannon teacher that claimed homework was a waste of time. Following this line of reasoning, that means sports people training for a game is also a waste of time. Me thinks that someone did not want to mark homework.
Now this does not rest with just the kids, parents are just as guilty for not instilling proper and respectful values when rearing they kids.

wasn't there some greek senator about a thousand years expressing the same concerns
