Bluey, an Aussie, goes to Buckingham Palace for an interview for a job as a footman.  He is ushered into a room in front of a panel of men & women.  He is asked a few questions & then the Chairman of the panel said, "That is satisfactory.  Now would you roll your trouser legs up above your knees". "Why", he asked.  He was told that sometimes footmen had to wear kilts & they wanted to see that his legs were suitable.  He complied.  "That's fine", he was told. "Now show us your testimonials".

Afterwards he thought to himself, "If I could have understood their lingo better I could have got that job".
