I have tried to get in touch with people in the Perth region, however looks like it's best to start a new thread...........I apologise if anyone has answered my plea from my previous foray...I have no idea how to find my way around ....................so in the hope that I shall get better at this I shall start over........big breath
OK........I have toyed with idea over many years that I may enjoy being on the road full time.....I am now crippled on the right side and am wondering how I can strike up ongoing conversations with people who want to share what it is like, helpful hints, anyone who may live in Perth who shoots of for weekends who wants company.... etc
I have done some homework and have found that a lot of people seem to have a regular home and then buy a rig heading off for anywhere between 2 weeks onwards. I have also noticed that a number of rigs are being sold after 30,000Km........
Any chatters out there who may have comments would be most welcome.....HELP ME GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!
So I have buggered it up already....Could the person looking after this site remove my photo please I thought it would be small....thank you for your invaluable help

Don't worry about your picture Josephine as we now know who you are and a nice pic as well. We talk a lot on here and for a lot of the time it is very hard to put a face to a name.
I have spoken to many people on this forum not knowing what they look like . the folk on here don.t care what your circumstances are we all get along really well. I would post my own picture but I don't want to scare anyone. Anyway I am sure you will get follow up on your intro. I can not advise on what to buy or use as we have not purchased anything ourselves .
We are waiting to see what the future holds for us. Good luck.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the gang Josofine, enjoy here and out in the playground.
You have made the first move to being in the playground by joining this great forum and I tell you that for free.
You will find some people travel as you say, for a couple/few weeks then pop back to base camp. Others are on the road full time and what they travel in is their home (no base camp).
Me, well I call myself a 'Part Time' grey nomad as I am out in the playground approx 8 out 12 months but that is about to change on my next return to base camp in September. I am selling and going to be a 'Full Time' grey nomad, looking forward to it too.
Good luck and ask as many questions as you want here as there are some very knowledgable people.

This is a great site to learn from and meet people doing all sorts of travel in every type of vehicle available. I am a very part time nomad and dreaming of the day I can just cut loose and travel again.
Good luck with it all
Mike and Shez
I also meant to add that 30k is about the distance required for one long circumnavigation of our great country (plus a few side trips) so I am guessing that there are many who bought new did the trip and are moving in a different direction with their lives so selling the Rig.
Its not a good Idea to put your phone number in a public post however you can always share by private message to an individual so its not seen by everyone on the internet.

What is it like on the road as a solo female? Fantastic. I have now been travelling for 8 months in a MH, fulltime. My home is rented and I am hoping they will eventually buy it, so for intense and purposes I do not have a base.
I can honestly say I have never been afraid, never been in danger, I have free camped and used CP's, I have only had good experiences and enjoy my life immensley. There are not too many days or times that there is not a smile on my face. I have seen places and views that I did not know existed. I have learnt about things that I did not know I did not know about. I have met the most wonderful people and had incredible conversations wether in passing or around a camp fire.
There are times when it would be nice to have another person to share a view or experience with, that is when you will find me talking to myself. There are times when one needs an intelligent conversation.
There are many singles out there doing it their way in differing forms. I certainly trust my gut instinct, and if it says, beware then I move on without a second glance. As for the notion that there is always someone to help you, yes there is at times, depending where you are and who is around, so try to be as independent as possible. It is amazing what you can do when you have to.
Before I started this journey, I was a 5 star girl, had never really camped, and enjoyed the city lifestyle. I now avoid the larger towns, the city bores me, so give me a small country town, a country road, I go wherever it takes me. My plans are made to be changed, I get lost at times as I have a dreadful sense of direction, however when that happens I usually find the most fascinating treasures. I have been known to book into a place for a night and end up staying three weeks. Other places I think I might stay longer and end up leaving after a couple of days. Everyone has their own way of doing things and you will only know this once you start your journey.
One of the best pieces of advice I received when I first started was to buy a second hand MH or caravan. I thank a fellow GN for that advice so often. (thanks NU-One). You will be able to source a good deal without too many k's as people either do not like the lifestyle or something untoward has happened to one of them.
Keep asking questions here, there is always someone to give you an answer. If possible, do a hire holiday, I did and was bitten terribly by the bug. Main thing is to have fun doing it.
Good luck and once again welcome to the forum.

I saw your other post after looking at this one.
to send a private message just click on the users name and there is a link from there.
one great thing about this site is the fact that its so alive with a great bunch of like minded people that will all say G'day and help where they can.
Jayco Gypsy quite often takes off for a few days here and there (she is a shift worker) and here in WA we have the odd Getogether now and then, have a look at the Getogether Section to see what we have done in the past.
All are welcome, solos' or couples, we do not discriminate and all get along well together.
Suggest send a pm to Jayco Gypsy, type that name in the Search (click on that on the dark blue line above) and it should bring it up or in List all users. If you find where she has made a post in the past then right click on her name and it will bring up her profile (you need to be logged in).
Your photo is ok, but if it worries you click on Webmaster and send her a message...
Hi, Josophine, Welcome to the playground. If you come to Brisbane, perhaps we could get a few people together for a coffee morning?
Good luck, I was like you when I first joined. finding your way around the site is a bit scary at first but perservere and soon it will be second nature to you. Enjoy. Rocket n Strop. ps. picture is very nice.

Welcome to the forum!
Hi Josephine
Welcome to the forum. As Vic say's I'm Perth based and try to take off for a few days when possible. When I do you would be more than welcome to join in.
Only trouble at the moment is I've been MIA on the forum and getting away. This thing called work has a way of getting in the way of my little escapes......seem to spend more time there than at home.
As Vic said keep an eye on the Get together section, we always have a great time and everyone is welcome. We're a very friendly bunch. Any thing I can help with just let me know.
