Mouse's chewin the floor of my van.

Having a lay down yesterday arvoi heard a chewing noise under my bed, I put 2 mouse traps under the bed with yummy cheadar cheese spread.

Upon looking under the bed this morning bingo a mouse in the trap, all I got to do now is find the hole where he chewed the floor?

The floor is app a inch ply but they can still chew a hole big enough to get into my van, mouse trap is set again 2 all up 1 with cheese spread other with strawberry jam they can take

there pick of the menue.

Also I use those plastic traps I got from Woolies there the best I've ever used biggrin there cheap too app $3 for a twin pack

I have 2 traps under the van but no customers today no

I agree, they are good traps. I carry 6 of them and place them all over the van inc. engine compartment. You may think it strange placing one in the engine bay, but I had a mouse get into the timing belt area two years ago at Green Lake and did $11,000.00 damage to the diesel. Luckily the Insurance Co. picked up the tab...

I have tried peanut butter but strawberry jam or Kraft cheese spread seems to work better for me biggrin

If there is a mouse around be a 99% chance he goes in the trap and a express trip to mouse heaven smile

The old fella used to run pubs in the UK and the best bait for catching mice is dry roasted nuts and chocolate!
They only eat cheese as a last resort!
Try the peanuts! I guess you could 'glue' the nuts to the trap with peanut butter!

I seem to like putting a dab of strawberry jam, anyway all is good at catching them but you need a good trap.

I agree they are the best traps from Wollies. I always have a least 6 packs at home as I throw trap and mouse out. I use, dog food, cheese, cold meat, peanut butter all work.

gee graham that video brought back horrid memories of the plagues we got up in the wheat belt where we grew up , one year they were as bad as that youtube , we as kids took to them with a 12 g when shells were cheap or we just had too much money and no sense as kids i think

we had moussies in our van last year in tassie  ,,got under the van and it had me tossed how they got in , but you could hear them , they got  a good dose of ratsack and they were gone , and a few traps got one , then none  reckon they only need a tiny gap too  get in

We made the mistake of using ratsak (or some kind of mouse bait) in the car a few years ago, and several of the little blighters died in the car. We searched and searched, found 2 bodies, but our nose told us there was another dead'un in there somewhere furious... And the maggots!!! blehblehblehGross!

Now we always carry traps just in case.

We picked up mice when we camped out west - they got into the spare wheel compartment and travelled through the car from there. Hubby put traps and bait in the car but found the 'smell' in the spare wheel compartment - where they died.
Fortunately didn't get any in the caravan that trip but when his sister borrowed our previous caravan to live in on a property while they built a house, rats got in and chewed sliding doors and various other parts of the van. And the poddy calves chewed through the annexe ropes! We were not happy.

I think ive got rid of them no traps gone off in 2 nights now not even the 2 outside I got under the van.

I think the last lot of mouse plague in Sa was at Port Lincoln I had a local tell me it was a carpet of nice in the main street then later it was the Joe blakes after the Mice.

Just a tip of these plastic mouse traps, I wash them in hot water after catching a mouse and put new bait on seems to work well.

Anyway I be heading back to Qld in app 2 weeks or so least it be warmer there after being in Sa for over 12 months now wink

i can remember about 35 years ago when i was bricklaying  i used to go bush to build homes , was over on york peninsula  a place called Bute about 6 doors from pub witch i stayed in for two nights, bloody mice running over ya all night , not as bad as that clip, half K down the road were silos thats just what it looked like.

after two nights i'd had enough , had been told Port Broughton 30 Ks away the mice had move inland so stayed in pub there for couple weeks. same as you Graham hate the bloody things. noblehdisbeliefdoh

Last 5 days I have set 3 mouse traps, each night under the van I get 3 mouses each night, but I change the menue each day, 1 day cream cheese spread, next day strawberry jam and the its plum jam, works a treat for me but not for those smart ass mouses biggrin (Don't they look silly in the mouse trap meeting there maker biggrin)

Graham, putting out that mouse picnic each night will attract every mouse from about 1 km away.
You only catch the first mouse at each trap. The other little buggas get a free picnic.

Suggest you concentrate on catching those inside your van, and forget about the others.

If he didn't attract mice from all around with the smorgasbord traps, how would he know if there were any mice there likely to infest his van? Sounds like a good way to test the waters for likely cuplrits of van infestation i reckon. Ummm... I hope you don't have any bear traps in your van Graham.
