I read in a caravan magazine about an OBST design fuel saver it states that you can save 10 -30% consumption by using one of these, has anyone got one or heard anything about this product
If one were to install all the fuel saving devices being touted to the public, and they worked, one would have to step every couple of hundred k's and drain some fuel from the tank as it would be getting fuller, not emptier as one drove.
A big advertised selling point for vehicles is the fuel consumption. If they worked every manufacturer in the world would be fitting one. Save you money. Ozjohn

Here is the website http://www.obstdesign.com.au/ and now I've seen how they work I will be able to knock one up at my local men's shed and start saving on fuel costs and if you want one they are half price for the first 200 orders just make the cheque out to me.
But thinking about it again one of our members is working on a perpetual motion machine so it wont be long before we no longer need any fuel whatsoever, so stay tuned and I will keep you all in the loop.
Cheers

If you really want to know, OBST is the surname of the inventor - Wayne Orbst.
OBST Design does have an impressive dealer network around Australia, and has won design awards with this invention
Would you pay around $250 on a chance to save 10 - 30% of your fuel cost??
Does it work??
No idea, but as previous posters have mentioned, every engine maker in the world would be using it, or similar technology, if it does.
Those of us that have spent hours polishing the old cast iron intake manifolds and intake ports in the cylinder heads on our FJ Holdens to get that last 0.25% of power would probably say that the theory is good.
But can a small engineering company come up with something better than some of the biggest car manufacturers in the world??
Now that I have totally confused most of you, I will leave you to make your own decisions.

Many moons ago there use to be a doover that went between the carby and manifold , made out of fine mesh that suppose to atomise the fuel better, bit hard on a diesel ?.
Saw this same bit of kit myself. Checked it out and spoke to my mechanic who actually bought one rather than accept a freebie. After a couple of weeks he took it off as it made performance worse when idling and did not see any appreciable fuel saving.
The theory has not valid base and if it did (1) it would be backed by proper scientific studies and tests that would demonstrate how good it was (2)it would be recommended by major manufacturers - and search as you may, you will not find any.
A relative who works for the MTA in SA stated that Obst approached them about being a distributor/recommend the device. When asked how it actually worked he could not give a proper explanation and instead just relied on generalised statements of "It just works" .
If both my mechanic and my relative (who is a diesel mechanic who had his own business in the UK for some years) do not recommend this device - I think it speaks plenty of its ability.

Hi David,
But if yours are not PLASMA shaped they will be no good will they.
Jees if I had a quid for every fuel saving device I have seen over the years I would be able to pay for the fuel my rig uses !!! There have been literally thousands of these air rotation devices "invented", don't these people actually look at what people before have done or claimed ?? Ditto for the perpetual motion machines of various mystery types
Just the usual unintelligent uninformed bullsh*t to get your money. As most others here have said also.
