It states in this article that Echuca only has one dump point, while this may be true of Echuca, BUT there is a FREE dump point at the Golf Club at Moama along with free parking for 48hrs there so anyone visiting the area would be well advised to stay at Moama and enjoy the facilities of the very large club at the same time, they have a very good dinning room with very well priced meals..
Now to answer the question as most of these dump points are provided to the various authorities FREE of charge by the CMCA they should be available to those that want to use them free of charge..
As for $15 I think that is just another case of price gouging..
I am interested to hear others thoughts on the matter..
Well, if we were saying in town a few days then I would reluctantly pay the cost. Unless if there was an alternative like the one you described. BTW it is a fantastic club isn't it.
I don't understand why there would be any charge in a town that size. Better off staying in Rochester down the road.

Nothing !! There are plenty of them around, many in small towns not listed in Camps 7. If I was really caught out, I'd be going to a public toilet.. (I don't use chemicals harmful to septic systems)

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
It is unfortunate that those who decide to charge for garbage disposal, be it a dump point or something else, do not appreciate that if people have to pay some will not do the right thing and go and dump it somewhere else. Dumping of absestos on the side of the road is a classic example. Dumped cars another.

Just a side note, if you are in Townsville, head to the Willows shopping centre and you will find a free one on the Kern Brothers road side in the gravel car park section near Centerlink.

Also just as a side note there are 2 free Dump Points in Grafton ..
1 at the Greyhound Club and 1 at the Showgrounds..
Both places also offer parking for vans and M/H's at very reasonable rates and both have full facilities (Cept NO swings, sand pits or kids playgrounds)..
I am with the Australian Caravan Club, representing their Town Support program.
We parallel the CMCA's RV friendly town program, but try not to interfere with their good work. My role, (with my lovely wife's assistance) is to advise towns, as we come to them, as to what we require when visiting.
Free dump points are high on the list, along with signage to public toilets, caravan parking to go shopping, etc, our aim is to encourage councils to take whatever steps are necessary to attract the RV business to their region. We have found good support from the local Chambers of Commerce, who obviously benefit from our business.
You can all help by visiting the local Info Centres or the council offices and insisting on free dump points in the town if not already available, caravan parking in the street, budget camping, be it local showgrounds or a paddock out of town, we rule the roost folks, we have the people power, and can use it to good effect.
G'Day Bevan, not questioning your motives but if I went into an info centre or council office and started telling them what RV'ers must have then I'd be shown the door quick smart.
if its not free , I would just dump it along the road ,like most other travels do ,,,,,,,, Billeeeeeee PS, its only food for the millions of flies....
It is a pity that all dump sites do not have tapered sides down to the outlet hole. I really hate poor design in anything.
Aussie Paul.
In reply to Aussie Pauls comment on bad design , I have installed plenty of these dumpoints , this is the older but better design , the new ones have sloping sides but we have had to go back and put a grate over outlet as people were losing there cassette caps, glasses, mobile phones and anything else that fell into dumpoint ,causing blockages . I have passed this onto Dumpezy who manufacture them. Yes you can still lose them in the old design but you have half a chance to grab it or it might sit in the bottom without going down the hole. So yes design is everything. Also I have noticed around the traps that some don't have a RPZ valve on the water hose ,a Dumpoint is classed as a high contaminate and the town water supply should be protected.

Unfortunately our local council is not very up to date with the travelling nomads and younger families, for many years the locals were trying to
get a dump point built at a place that all travelling public could use and the council did recently supply a point in Kyabram some 35ks from Echuca.
I would think in high season Echuca would have probably 150 caravans a day (only guessing) travelling through or staying in the many c/parks here,in Kyabram would be a huge difference in visitors
As said in previous post the Golf club(Rich River) has a dump point and there is also one at the Mathoura Club on the highway to Deniliquin.
Dennis, (Hako) No you wouldn't, most councils, like all businesses, welcome our feed back, that is not just a cliche, I dare say the ACC get a better reception because we represent a large club, but if you were to waltz into a council office and ask to speak to any available councilor, or leave a message with a receptionist, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Democracy, we are allowed to say our piece.
We don't always get the desired outcome, but the important thing is, that as Grey Nomads, we are making a splash, and the more we do it, the more they have to listen to us.
The Australian Caravan Club is continually dealing with Gov't people, state and local, as I believe also is the Motor Home club, the CMCA, and collectively we have the numbers, so as individuals you can all add weight to the outcomes we are striving for.
Many of us love free camping in the bush, many caravan parks are lobbying against it as they claim to "Lose Business," councils are caught in the middle, trying to please both, our presentations to councils address these issues, not everyone wants b.... jumping castles and spas etc, and caravan parks so far will not address this issue with a tiered pricing structure, so use your voices and tell councils what you want.
They will listen, whether or not they act on it is another matter, but at least we tried.
The ACC motto is the "The Club For All RVers" I am not asking you to join, but please support our efforts on your behalf if you can. Together we can make a difference. (sorry that sounds like another cliche, but you know what I am saying.)
Cheers all,
Bevan

Hey guys, I remember when I use to spend a penny. This $15 bit is certainly at bit of " stiff S%@t".
All for correct disposal, and there are plenty of dump sites and growing by the month and year.
The R.V. industry is one of the fastest growing tourism sections in this great country, and the powers to be need to recognise and accept that fact.
Jay&Dee
If there is no dump point in a town when I need to dump then that town misses out.
When I need to dump I go to the town with a dump point and then I either buy food or fuel and let the retailer know the reason I selected their town for my purchases.
I do the same where I camp. I wont pay a caravan jail fee but I always spend money in the town which maintains the camp site I used.
If we all did the same and made the retailersaware that the money they are receiving is because of the camp site or dump point there would be less resistance to us stopping in their area.
I have been in towns stopping with friends and often remark to locals how many RV's past through their town and how many would have stopped and spent money if their town / city was Rv friendly and had a free camp site and or dump point.
Regards
Brian
