Heki 2 hatch repair

I bought a new blind to fit as the old one was staring to get holes in it. $177(?) from Caravanplus.

Removed the inner (ceiling) fitting and removed the old blind.

Now, if you a re going to do this, a word of warning - the lug the winder fits in to is the most critical bit of this whole plastic cowl ( for want of a better word). You would think they would make it the strongest part as it takes all the strain of the tensioned winder. NO!!

So either taking out the old blind or fitting the new one the little lug broke. According to Dometic you can buy the whole shebang, cowl, blind, flyscreen as one unit, over $400, according to caravanplus, they don't list it.

Short story, I went to bed thinking about all this and the photos show my answer. Not a pretty job but then it's out of sight and does the job, and only cost a few naughty words.

The adhesive is polyester resin.

Good work and more than one way to skin a cat...probably stronger than the original.
