It's an irrigation lake Copper1 - water goes in and out all the time depending on farmers needs. Grass is dry, but it is summer and that is what happens - has been slashed though!

Great photos Doug. I'm getting envious of all of you guys enjoying yourselves at Greens !! Arrived back in Tassie last Wednesday and spent a day in bed overcoming jet lag. Makes me wonder how I survived the long overnight flights during my flying days!!
The Iveco looks sad with long grass growing around it but I'll attend to that plus a bit of electrical work I want to do, then I'll be ready to go. I've always wanted to visit Musselroe Bay, north of Bay of Fires, so might do that as a test run.
March 18 2014 I'll be on the Spirit and intend to stop off at Greens that night or the 19th., for a day or four !! Will be heading to Brisbane. Really enjoyed my last stay at Greens in April this year. Only thing that bothers me is mice. A mouse got into the timing belt of my MH and I ended up being towed into the Iveco Dealer in Shepparton. Two months and $11,000.00 later, I set off again. I wont bore you with details now, although I did make a post about the incident at the time, I'll save it for a fireside chat one evening... Gotta stop off at Aldi and see if they still have those $1.64 bottles of red !! No Aldi in Tassie...

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
Rockylizard.I have question for you .When jaydee posted I went looking for the map in the search to let them know bur could not find it .What subtitle is it found under ?...Alan.
Great photos Doug, I like the 2 action shots I tried to get them but the camera wasn't good enough.
I haven't taken many this year because I have lots from last year, I hope you don't mind me adding a few from then. The water level is much higher this year. John
Thanks for the great photos Dougwe. We have never been to Greens Lake but would love to next year, but we will not be setting off until around June. I have a question (maybe silly) but do GN visit this spot in the winter or is it a summer hang out? I would love to meet up with some of you folk but not going if no one is going to be there. I have been reading that it gets pretty sloppy when it rains. I am presuming that this happens in the winter.
Enjoy your time away. this place sounds such a great spot.
Greens Lake is a spot that is open all year - sometimes in the winter you will find a GN staying over on the way to somewhere - but, being Victoria it can get very cold, as it does in the southern states.
The sloppy parts are usually down near the water, the roads can be a bit slippery in rain, but just need to take it easy, no sudden turns, drive on the grass when you can, or look for the gravel roads!
