Set off Sunday morning to go to Boynedale Bush Camp Camps6 #107 a trip of around 220kms via Biloela and skirting Calliope to take the Gladstone Monto Road. This has a huge area to camp with the usual facilities but no shower or water. You can camp right on the dam if you are lucky enough to find a spot. It is a camp site where you can stay for 7 days, Camps suggests that there is no phone but here I am on the internet slowly using floptus. Am concerned about a sign that I saw a the start of this road stateing that there are severe climbs 87kms ahead, also Camps suggest that there is 35kms of unmade road in an area called Many Peaks so will have to talk to other campers about this. The sign suggests detouring via Biloela and having just driven 120kms from there am not wanting to take the detour. John
I hope to camp there by the dam as I have been told there are some huge barras in there. Looks nice. How far is it from the township, and shops?Three weeks til takeoff, at the end of the school holidays.Bill
Boyndale is a great spot - we were camped right on the water - it is about 15k or so from the township of Calliope, which is a well set up town with IGA,bakery etc.
The road through Monto is apparently just as it says - had some friends take their caravan over recently, even though it said not suitable for them - they went anyway, windy, and a bit narrow they said, and some dirt road - but they made it ok, they said there wasn't much traffic.

Stayed there a month ago for 7 days and feasted on redclaw .Jules it's 37 klm's from Calliope.
People were being asked to move on as they are overstaying the 7 days also the locals from Gladstone are now using it at weekends since they have enlarged the area.
