Please do not spoil nearly every topic that comes up

Why is it that every time anyone tries to have any kind of normal chat about any topic on any forum someone  come alongs with a flippant comment and then all the other comments that follow are likewise and then that is the end of another discussion. Why can't anyone have a conversation in peace?.

Sad really as there are a lot of people who would like to be able to discuss things.

Some will agree with me and some will not

Good travelling

One of the reasons I don't post on the two main forums anymore as there are people on those forums who always have to be right even when they know nothing about what they are talking about.

Many of the people who have the knowledge on certain subjects on these forums also wont post anymore as some people take pleasure in trying to discredit others.

One of the reasons I now use this forum is because most here are people who are interested only in camping and not on building their egos.

There are also only a few threads on the technical issues that always run into the fights.

We should always remember we are all different and if someone does it different to you then so be it.

Regards
Brian

Yes this is a very good forum for Grey Nomads so I will be happy to go with the flow and put up with the good, the bad and the ugly. There is probably not much point in perservering with this topic as I do not want to cause friction.

As I started this topic I will close by thanking those who did contribute and hope you all enjoy reading the forum and travelling and meeting more nomads.

Good travelling from

Liddle

But doesn't that happen in real life too.You are sat around a fire chewing the fat talking about something or other and the conversation goes off subject to something else.

Happens all the time, Yes some posters add their bit to a thread and veer off subject.

Sometimes subjects change and people add stuff but it's the way of the world.

I just think it's nice to be able to post about pretty much anything unless it gets heated and stupid and then Cindy steps in.

Glad I don't live in a country where you cannot say what you like.

That's true too Yuglamron. My sister and I do that all the time, and her hubby can't keep up with us.

Have you seen Winners & Losers? When the Mum says to her hubby...'keep up Brian!' That's us!

I agree with you Beth. One the other hand, the difference between a BBQ and a forum is that if you need to talk a bit more indepth at a BBQ about a specific topic you can veer off in the corner but on a forum....there are no corners. Now its time for ME to 'keep up'

All forums go off track and I personally don't mind that at all. I think what Liddle is referring to is quite different and annoying.

I can understand what liddle is saying - it can be frustrating - but it is what makes this site 'alive'. If you check out other forums there are days when no posts are made on some subjects - or most of the posts are 'old'. This is a very active forum and maybe the answer is to say - 'I ask a serious question.....'smilesmilesmilesmile

Or just ignore 'those' ones and bring it back on track if it starts to wander too much.

Agreed. I recently wrote an opinion on the "main" forum, re. cruise controls, and the danger that could result from their use. It was only an OPINION, yet a couple of the "angry blasts", I received, as result of my comments, were, to say the least, a surprise. I love the forum, but get the feeling that some people just engage the fingers before the brain.
