Daintree Village

I am now in Daintree Village having taken the long way round via Mt Molloy to avoid the 4WD shorter track, called in to Rifle Creek free campsite at Mt Malloy but it was too early to stay so I had lunch and went on my way. After the Northern Teritory roads to drive between Mt Malloy and Mossman down the range was a real pleasure with the rainforest on both sides almost covering the road above and 6kms of 30kph curves was a huge contrast to the long straight roads merging with the horizon.
Everywhere I went there were no camping signs but when I got to the Village I saw a sign at the Riverview Caravan Park offering non powered sites for $10 per person with camp kitchen, clean flushing toilets and hot showers. I could have had a powered site for $15 but the van was well powered showing 13 volts after a good charge up last night at Cooktown. The entire village is involved in the cruise scene, if there were no crocodiles in the river I am sure that the place would die. Needless to say after going on the Jumping Crocodile cruise on the river near Fogg Dam I gave the ones here a miss. Can't believe that I have internet access here in the camp at Daintree Village. The pics were taken just outside the park on the public boat ramp.   John

It's a quaint little place which depends solely on people like you and I.
There are some really big crocs hiding in the shadows on the banks of the Daintre.
Kick back and enjoy the solitude.
