Big Brook Arboretum, Pemberton WA

Moving on again, had planned to go to Windy harbour but the fires had closed the road from Northcliffe to Windy harbour and I had to avoid that area so I went to Pemberton and on to the Big Brook Arboretum. Camps6 # 291. The pictures are of the Big Brook Dam nearby as well as the campsite, the name Arboretum suggests trees and they were there in abundance a peaceful pleasant site. When you drive in go slowly and soak up the green, the tree tops, the regrowth and the low bushes are all very green and the sunlight filtering through just sets it off a treat.

What a beaut spot John, we will be going down to Pemberton in August so will keep it in mind for an overnighter.  I'll post this link here for additional info if anyone is interested;

We have been to the dam for a day trip, beaut walk trail around the lake but take water, good quality toilets near the parking area.

Gee you really know how to find 'em. You done good John. It looks oh so peaceful there, with fire places. I suppose you can't use them at this time of the year. Keep up the good work.

 G'Day Billy,

We were given a gift voucher for two nights & breakfast in a nice resort which is very popular and that is the earliest we could get in Billy, so will take the van and do a couple of other stays while we are down that way.   Yes, I know, will be rotten weather and cold !!  Have to use the voucher before an expiry date.

Camps 7 suggest small vehicles only. How would we go with a 20' van?

We were there in August 2012, we didn't have a caravan (campervans only) however the camp hosts had a caravan.

Would suggest check this out with Pemberton Tourist Bureau or DEC whatever they call them now, however did notice that when you turn off Big Brook Road to the campground ( that is after driving past the dam, bitumen turns into gravel, turn off further down on the left about a km down) as you drive down the turn off you will see a left turn into the campground, do not take this turn off as some of the branches were overhanging a bit when we were down there, however continuing on the main turn off road there is another turn off to the left further down which is very open and leads into the southern side of the campground which would be more suitable for a caravan or higher vehicle (motorhome?).
