any nomads in the Hurstbridge area?

I am looking for any seasoned nomads in the Hursbridge area.  I would love to have a coffee n chat about the planning of a trip to the north.  As I have not done this before alone Id like to sit down with someone and work out distances and timing etc.  I have a few things I wish to attend up north but not sure of how long it all takes etc.  to travel the distances.  Would love to hear from someone.

Ta

Tess

Actually anywhere in Melbourne is fine. Happy to travel to you, nowhere is far really.

Hi Tess - sorry not inyour area - or even your state - but hope someone on here contacts you, that lives locally.
In the meantime, ask your questions on this site - people on here are only too happy to share their knowledge - like where in Qld do you want to go - what is you time frame - towing? motor home? Free camping or caravan parks - have you got the Camps Australia 6 - or even an older one? Valuable asset for any camper.

Are you able to go away for a weekend - why not contact Happy Wanderer - she lives in Echuca, and is a lovely lady - private message her, have a chat - you can learn a lot from her.
There are always a lot of nomads on the road - or at home planning to get on the road - ask specific questions about what you want to do - you should get good response then.

Good luck with your travels.
And Welcome to the site.

Jules, Tess and I know each other well from two visits to Greens lake, she's a lovely lady too, and thank you for those kind words.
Not sure where Hurstbridge is Tess. JazzinAround, Lorraine is out Maffra way, east of Melbourne if its in that general area. She has travelled the east coast up to Qld for the last 17 years.
Depends just how far up north you want to go and when.
I always go the Newell Highway and the minimum I woud take would be 3 days, intend to take a couple of weeks this time when I head off in April.

Tess,
I am in outer east of Melbourne - probably about 30 minutes from you. I would be very happy to meet with you and help if I could. Unfortunately, it can't be for a couple of weeks as I have just come out of hospital after a foot operation and am on crutches. Stitches should come out in the middle of the month, and I hope I'll be able to drive again soon after that.
If that sort of timing suits you, perhaps you could PM me and we will arrange a meeting.

Gosh Wendy, I hope your foot improves after the surgery. Take care.

Thanks all for the responses. I will PM those who have offered to help and I would love to meet with you and discuss my trip. I am still gathering together the list of places I need to be and approximately when. When I have that I can ask for advice on when to leave and which way would be best to go. I am towing a 17ft van with an AWD. Not an off road van so will need to stick to mainly black roads but would like to free camp where possible as I am set up to free camp. I will be asking for your advice as I plan and I thank you all in advance for your assistance. So good to read the posts on here. I get a chuckle at times, feel the strain of others and just enjoy the interaction. Thanks to you all.

CG - thanks. Will be a few months before I know how much feeling will come back to the foot. Just from wear and tear of an active life - dammit!

Thanks Jules, I have the camps 6 book and I have started marking the ones I read about on here when someone has stayed there. It's a bit of a bible isn't it? I will be contacting folk and meeting up with them later in the month to chat and yes I will continue to ask questions on here. Thanks again for the reply.
