RE: Grey Nomad at heart

You're very perceptive Benton. Some of us are solo by choice, and others by life circumstances.
What we do with our lives is an individual decision. My drive to travel began when I was very young, and I've never really settled anywhere for very long.
I just can't get enough of travelling the highways of Australia, no matter how rough they are. A bit like life's journey really.
Moving on no matter what.

I just want to get to know my wonderful homeland so much better and will not let my being "solo" to be an impediment to that.
I did not choose to be solo, but nevertheless I make the most of my circumstances and try and fulfil my dreams and encourage my girlie with hers.
I do have the odd concern about my security whilst on the trip but will not place myself in any situation where I may be at risk.
As far as making friends are concerned, I have already started here on this wonderful website. I hope to meet as many of them as I can along the way.

..sorry i wasn't making any judgements, just relating experiences and observations as there are some odd people out there waiting to take advantage of the unwary..just keep alert, do your vehicle maintenance and plan your stages well.

These days there are more of us on the road should the need arise.

Having a mobile network is the just great!

 Hello Benton,

Thanks for your concern. I did not think you were making judgements and I understood and appreciated your comments.

I will certainly be looking out for myself, having had 15 years of practice. Of course, being away from the safety of home will be a different kettle of fish, but I will be extra careful when it comes to my security.

Lyn

I think we are all awaiting anxiously Lyn.  Make sure you put us some pics won't you.  One of your daughter would be nice too, with her permission of course.

Woud you believe it!

That same daughter has been asked to be a "model" for the next advertising campaign for Dove beauty products. So millions of people may get to see images of her whether they want to or not.

A couple of weeks ago she was at a flea market in Los Angeles when a scout from a casting agency came up to her and asked if she would audition for the new campaign. She attended the audition with about 1,000 others, was called back last weekend for another photo shoot, etc and has this morning been told that she has got the assignment.

There may be problems though in relation to her Visa. She has obtained the Visa to continue working as Senior Financial Analyst with Columbia Pictures so may be restricted to just doing that.

If she is allowed to go ahead with it, the photo shoot is this weekend.

You never need to be alone on the road if you wish. When you travel start looking for a rest stop after lunch. remember your are livng a life no rushing to a destination.

If you want company and you see people in a rest stop. Pull in a drive slowly through or even stop for a toilet stop. Have a chat with the people already there and get an idea of their character, remember your first impressions are the best. If you feel comfortable then decide to stop if it suits you. If you get the wrong vibes get out fast.

After a while it will become easy and there will be times where you will seek the quiet spaces on your own. Nothing like a week alongside a river with just the birds and the water and a line dangling in the water. Wood fire going and your night meal slowly cooking in front of you while you enjoy a quiet sip of your nectar.

Never fear of the un tried. Try every thing and anything and be prepared to trust YOUR decisions and feelings.

See you on the road

Regards
Brian
