What exactly is SDA, I did not realise it was a religous place, so if there I would have to respect their rules, but I would still choose not to go there. It is great to be an Aussie and have that choice........

Geez mate if I'd told you my other bloops and clangers at trying to get things to work over the weekend perhaps you would choose another term - more like 'deterrant ' perhaps. Anyway it was all great fun and I've loved spending the last few days in my van - don't want to go home.

The SDA CP must have a business plan tuned to the religious market, otherwise they wouldn't survive.

Certainly, no happy hours, no meat on the BBQ (SDA's are vegetarian) and no pets is enough to keep me away.

However, it would be nice and quiet.

Well, the time came for us to load up the van, throw the billy lids in the car and head off on our first "big trip" in the van. A short 3 hour run to Coffs Harbour for a few days. The little Millard towed really well at 80-90 kph and we had no trouble at all on the trip. The new shepherds hook 4 bar load levellers I'm sure helped a lot with that too. A couple of times I found out the van towed well at about 105 kph as well, lol. Wasn't really trying for any speed tests but she just sat on the road and trundled along. SWMBO got less nervous and actually started to enjoy herself as she turned into a dashboard photog on the trip home. Can not recommend the Harbour City Caravan Park enough, they are really great people, friendly and full of info on the local area. The park is pet friendly as well (they even accepted our kids, lol). Now planning the trip away to put into practice some of the massive amount of things I learned. I can see myself selling up and retiring full time on the road in 20 or so years. That should make the kids leave home, lol.

Why wait 20 years. Soon as the last is able to look after themselves you should look at getting out there and enjoying yourself as we don't know how long we have on this earth to do just that.

I was lucky as when my youngest were nearly 18 my wife gave me an offer too good to refuse. I accepted and walked out and have never regretted it though I did regret the 20+ years I wasted living with her LOL

If you can get out there and enjoy your life together and leave the kids to them selves then do it.

Remember it is out duty to spend ALL our money ourselves as the kids of today believe that money is evil in our hands so we must spend it.

Enjoy live as you get just one go.

The kids wouldn't leave home so we did Brian.

I certainly concur with your approach to money....................100%.

We worked danged hard for what we got so why feel obliged to leave it all to the next generation and do without ourselves. Selfish attitude some might say...................I say JOIN THE SKI CLUB... biggrin

Feedback on the SDA camp. Very quiet and peaceful place, no yobbo's and very close to Perth Airport (but not close enough to be bothered by the noise, no flight path going over). The price may seem high but for the proximity to Perth is reasonable for a caravan park, don't think you would get much cheaper that close to Perth.

PS: Although I am a non drinker/smoker, mostly vegetarian and don't take illicit drugs, I am not religious or a wowser......just for the record !!
