roof top tent

some of you may remember some time ago we purchased a roof top tent
this tent is now up for sale as i have done my rotor cuff in and have a sore shoulder we have only used this roof top tent once and that was on queens birthday weekend

we paid 1500 delivered to our door, most of them are 1,700 to buy but we got ours at a good price brand new, we are now selling this for 1200 ono ,its a great tent
pops up within minutes and i mean minutes it comes with a fly to go round the bottom therefore creating another room ,also has an awning that goes on it and pulls out to put under that awning is a fully screened room that zips up as well.

if anybody knows of anyone interested please pm me and i can organise a viewing or some pics to there email .

its not much fun with a rotor cuff injury and can take up to two years to heal so im told.

wish us luck in the sale ive put it up on gumtree for sale as well ?.

Happy Wanderer and Milo,
I'll answer you both in this post.  First of all, I bought mine from a couple in the CMCA.  They advertised it in "The Wanderer", which is the CMCA magazine.  I paid around $24,000. for it.
It's a '98 model toyota Hi-Ace.

It's Deisel, Auto, with a large Solar Panel and one Solar Battery.  It is Airconditioned. Has a radio. TV Antenna came with it.  Small Micro-wave, which I may never use, unless I'm in a C-Park, which is not very likely, as I much prefer to Free-camp.   Also 12/240 Volt Fridge.  [ No Gas].    It had a Campervan Stove/grill in it when I got it, but I don't like Gas in vehicles, so I gave the Stove and the 2 small Gas Bottles for it to my nephew.

I do have a small Camping Butane Gas stove. [Not as dangerous in my opinion.]  Where the Stove was, is a Cupboard, which can swing out to give you more room when you're stopped for a while.   It has an External Shower.

It's a Pop-top, as I think I think I get better fuel mileage than if I had a High-top, which I think would catch too much wind.

You can buy them much cheaper on sites like Gumtree, or The Trading Post.  You'd need to have them thoroughly checked by Racq or whatever the relevant body is in other states, as they're ones used by Back-packers.  Usually prices are under $ 10,000 and the Layouts are pretty basic usually.

I'd check [which I did] the sites for new Campers, and look at the Layout Options, and decide which one is best for you.

I keep the bed permanently made up, so I don't use most of the space under the seating area for storage.    I downsized the bed to a 3/4 ,  Bought 4x4 Unit sets of Drwaers from the Warehouse,[Crazy Clarks have them too.][ 16 reasonable sized Drawers.]   They fit nicely down the space on one side, with a bit of room left to store the Shower Tent [pop-up] and a few other small things.

Here are some shots so you'll get an idea.  I have posted these before, but can't remember where.   In the shot of 2 together, Mine is on the left.  You can see what I mean about the difference in height, and wind-drag.

Forgot to say it also has a sink, and 2 other cupboards, 1 of which you can alter to hang things in.[Not too many].

I've also made Flat 2 inch Black Elastic Straps with hooks on each end, to replace the Bungee  Straps.  They stop the Drawers from sliding out while travelling.  I don't want them coming out on top of my little dogs.  They only need to go down to the 3rd Drawer from the top, as the bottom row are held in by the mattress.

 Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Sheba.

Hi Glassies,
My Mistake.  Wrong wording.  I should have said "I know you wouldn't mind" , instead of "I didn't think you'd mind".
That was what I meant.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Thank you so much Sheba for putting all that info up. It is all so helpful and will be taken into consideration. The photos give a better idea of what you are describing, thank you so much for all the great ideas.

Happy to help where I can.  If you have any other questions, just ask.  If I can't help some-one else will probably be able to.

Cheers,
Sheba.

Hi Glassies, just a short comment re your rotor cuff injury, I suffered same and 18months of physio/anti steriods no signs of improvement until I had a saline injection under guided needle........immediate improvement and pain greatly reduced and movement/rotation restored.
all the best

Hello glassies

In regards to the rotary cuff, I think it depends on your age and general fitness, to some degree in regards of time to fully function again.

Example

At 52 years of age I suffered a heredity (I assume) condition, of a spur cutting through the ligaments. I was unable to lift my left arm above my head, without using my right hand to pull it up. (It was very painful, as you are aware). Like most men I decided to hide my disability from my employer of the day, for as long as I could. It all came to a head one night when I rolled over in my sleep and cried out in pain.

My real boss gave me two choices, I could see a Doctor, or a rolling pin.

I had the rotary cuff operation using keyhole surgery. Utilising private health insurance, I was back in employment in five weeks. Not fully fit, and still with a bit of pain, but much more functional. After several weeks I was once again fully fit, and kicked myself up the backside, for not seeking medical attention years earlier.

An older brother by two years had the same problem, the following year. He would have then been 55 years of age. He had the normal government operation of a big scar on his shoulder. He returned to employment after three months. Once again it was several weeks of niggling pain, before he was fully fit again.

Perhaps you could ask your local Doctor, or surgeon, to put you in touch with people who have had the same operation, as there may be different types of Rotary Cuff problems

Hope that this info helps you.
