Heading North for Winter

I am coming out of the closet and admitting to being a "grey nomad", whatever that means to each one of you. I will shortly be taking off on an extended solo trip in a generally northward direction from Canberra to renew my acquaintance with outback Australia. Hope to meet up with lots of other similar minded travellers on my journey.

Cheers for now,
BigRed

Gday Bob and welcome to the forum may your stay be a happy one, "out of the closet" Hmm!! must be a bloody big closet cos we are, or were in there

what was it that a famous man once said "to admit to ones addiction is the first step to the cure", bugger that I admit to the addiction but they can shove the "cure"

enjoy your travels northward and be sure and see wilpena pound, fantastic times ahead of you, wish I was with you!!

If you're heading to Cairns , call in. I'll put the kettle on, or chill the beer, or whatever.
Safe and happy travels. Cheers Chris

Hi all and thanks for the welcome.

It was very perceptive of you to associate my signature with my former hair colour. I am a fairly large person who used to be called by the name BIGRED. My dear wife will attest to the fact that, while the BIG is still accurate, the only thing RED that remains is the colour of my face when I bend over to tie my laces.

I purchased my KIA Sorrento just over a year ago ( way before Basil ) and a 17.5' JAYCO Dual Axle Poptop about the same time. Together, they are a formidable team; the van tows well and the KIA hardly knows it is there.

My rough plan at this stage is Canberra, Lake Cargelligo, Nyngan, Cobar, Bourke, then a bit of a meander through the backblocks to Cloncurry, Normanton, accross to Cairns. and then ( maybe? ) head back via Townsville, Charters Towers, Emerald, St George, Moree for a dip in the pool and eventually back home.

There is no real timeframe for all of this and nothing is set in stone, I will take it as it comes. You may be sure that if and when I reach Cairns I will take you up on your offer.

Cheers for now,
