Free & Cheap camp sites in the Hunter Valley NSW

A good free area is in the centre of Broke NSW ( Just West of Singleton) Toilets - Water fill point - Shaded areas .

A cheap camp area thats greater then it gets credit for is the Lake Liddell recreation area North of Singleton on the New England highway (1st turn on the right past all the power stations heading north to Muswellbrook) Clean quiet & safe , full amenities with shaded sites & some powered sites & a great spot just to chill . Long or short term welcome .

There is a mate of mine at work who uses free roadside camp/parking sites most of the time when he travels.
He showed me his bible (Camps 4 Australia Wide)the other day and I looked on the I/Net and found the site.
Great book with excellent details etc.
Here is the web site
http://www.campsaustraliawide.com/index.php
Looks good, reasonable cost- shows all amenities all at roadsides incl showers, if transports stay there etc. etc.......

Yeah we have version 2, the first was a pocket size, and now up to number 4, very imformative , but always have a back up or two, found quite a few mistakes, probably because it changes so quick tween the printing and didtribution

Free camps in the Hunter - well I think we live there LOL

Oh yes we do - now I remember

heaps of camps around but one we use quite frequently is Moonan Flat,
Its not exactly free but $5.00 per night per couple for power, hot showers and toilets and the pub across the river is a real bonus and serves some of the best meals in town - well they haven't got much competition LOL

The keys can be picked up from the post office - lovely friendly couple Craig and Flora.

We are headed up ourselves in a few weeks for a few days R& R

In Aberdeen - and sssh never told you this in town is the rodeo grounds.
Not officially a free camp, but a great place to hide out and is right on the Hunter River. I am sure that if I can get ph numbers from someone on the committee they would be more than happy, let me know if you are interested and will find out more and let you know how to get there.

Goulburn River National Park is still free entry as is Coolah Tops national park.  Both really nice spots, but the road into Coolah was not in the best of conditions last we saw of it and it might pay to find out more if going that way.

Cheers
