What are you doing during the NSW Sept/Oct school holidays?

During the school holidays Sun 28/9 - Fri 10/9 I join a group of travellers on safari around NSW raising money for charity - this year the RFDS. We camp out, can buy meals in advance, have hoards of fun. Itinerary is Coonamble, Cobar, Ivanhoe, Silverton, Milparinka, Wanaaring, Willie station, Coonamble.  I have 1 seat available in my Troopie if you would like to join me. 10 night meals cost $174 & a share in the fuel. You will need your own tent & sleeping gear, I have everything else. A great time is promised with lots of activities & fun people to share the evenings. Contact me asap if you are interested.

I would love to join the drive with you, but at this moment I'm still procrastinating on either the Peak Hill National Gathering, or joining the SA members shooting off down to the South East for a few days.

Either way, it will be my first trip and am so eager to get going..

Good fun & travels with your mob, and we expect lot's of pics when you return.

Hi Twobob,

Used to be Lightning Ridge Police Bush Safari but there was an administration problem so the group of people I am involved with & who have provided so much fun is now called Forensic Services Police Bush Safarai. This year's safari is restriced to NSW, it's the initial year. The committee is well experienced in organising an entertaining, educational, safe trip. The 'entertainment officer' - a publican from just over the border keeps us amused with trivia night, games, movies, a themed ball, talent quest & sometimes fireworks. There are numerous raffles along the way - all part of raising money for the Doctor this year, but next year there will be a vote at to where the money goes.

We tend to stay in out of the way places - keep together as a large group - although some prefer more up market accommodation & may book into hotels/motels etc. At morning muster we are provided with information about the route, the condition of the roads, if the committee will have lunch available by the side of the road, interesting aspects along the way, fines are issued for different/devious behaviours & some people are nominated for the silly hat for doing something silly or fabricated silly - all part of good fun.

Each morning a lead car leaves early & marks the route, no way anyone can become lost & the last car is also a police car, checks to see no one is left behind & collects the signs. We are like one big, happy family & look after one another. There could be anything from 30 cars onwards & maybe 120 adults & kids. Most people tent it, swag it or camper trailer it. Breakfasts & some lunches are self cater. Evening meals, for people like me, are provided at a reasonable cost by either the committe cookup or local town organisations like CWA, P&C, tennis clubs etc as fund raisers for their group. The good thing about it for me is there are heaps of drinking mates - in the local pub or around the campfire.

Now what more do you need to know?

Marilyn

On Ya Marilyn

This is what is needed, a reason to travel, with a guarantee of having a good time. Safe, secure, and well organised. Have a beer for me

Unfortunately, I cannot attend

I am wanted in all states of Australia, and you mentioned "Police". You see the warrent is issue for "Being the laziest Bloke in Aussie" and my mate has gone into hiding, so I can not produce him, to prove them wrong!

Thanks twobob,

Haven't any takers for the passenger seat but there'll be lots to see & hear to keep me occupied.
Well now for that beer, I'll have more than one for you then that will keep me under the limit.

Regards,

Marilyn
