RE: Too many people?

if you dont want company then no-one says that you must accept, as I stated in a previous post we will INVITE you, doesnt mean to say that you have to come over, we will not come over with baseball bats and recruit you, if you prefer your own company, GREAT, dont be left out because of shyness if you dont, I just want to see that you know that you have a choice here and not be forced to eat and drink alone because you feel fearfull to aproach a camp, I just want to introduce a decision and not take it away from you, your decision O.K.

I have been wondering if there is a protocol with travellers. I sometimes like company but am wary of intruding on other people's space. As I don't want to appear pushy or mistaken for a working woman i tend to stay away unless there is a group already chatting. dawa

I always consider if someone is sitting outside their vehicle then they are open for a chat. As you walk past just say "Hello". If they respond then perhaps start a conversation if no reply keep walking.

If you are inside then you are considered to need your space and no one will interrupt.

I am a solo and like my space and therefore camp in many isolated spaces etc but will always have a chart with a fellow camper.

You girls don't need to worry as many of us blokes are all womened out and are happy for a chat and want nothing else. Actually would run a mile and in the opposite direction so many of us are in the same boat as you girls.

We are out there enjoying the time we have left on this planet and don't want any complications.

Get out there an enjoy whatever method of travel you like but be prepared to try all the other methods as well before you disregard them as you may find what you thought you would not like right up your alley once you have tried.

Regards
Brian

I could tell you, but I'd have to get you drunk so you'd forget what I tell you.
If you go way back to the era of the original thread you will find out who these people were, and maybe, where they went.
I remember most of them, and they were "interesting" in their own ways.
GN's come and go for all sorts of reasons.

As for the social aspect of nomadding, it's up to you.  As previously advised, take a casual walk around the park or camp, stop for a chat and if you get an invite, or you invite someone to share happy hour you know what's going on.  It's not compulsory to mix and mingle incessantly.  It's all personal choice.

Socialising is a feature of travel I look for, but I'm not one to inflict myself on others unless I'm shown the welcome mat.  I also don't mind being alone, I do get sick of doing everything by myself, but I'm not lonely.

This is one of the problems with solo women trying to just live the hell out of their lives WITHOUT it being assumed they are 'working' women. I know you two guys are just being funny, but perhaps we solo women might wonder what you are doing in the solo's forum. Helpful is great, but personal (assuming Monica wears a g-string) is just creepy.

Exactly... I was cringing when reading the drivel coming from the 2 boys feeding off one another....

Go and play somewhere your appalling sense of humour is appreciated....

Welcome to the forum isuzuswag. Enjoy!

To reassure you... This thread was started in 2008, and most of those people are not on this forum anymore, we are a much better behaved bunch nowadays.

Must be getting old!! and welcome isuzuswag - as Gerty says - ENJOY!!!!! You learn a lot by meeting and talking with other travellers, good spots to camp, spots to avoid - etc etc.
