There are so many magic places! High up the list for me are: Kimberley, Lawn Hill NP/Adels Grove, Barn Hill, Cape Arid Nat Park, Wilsons Promontory, Mallacoota, all of Tasmania. Perhaps the most magic was a very remote place called Pungalina, in the Gulf country of WA. It is now a property of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, because it is so unique. We were very privileged to spend some time there, a few years ago.

Hi Wendy,
Just checked out Pangaluna, and discovered it is Seven Emu . This property was owned by Bill Harney and a mate for some years after the war. [I think WW1].

My magic place was the Coburg Peninsula in the NT. Very isolate but just so perfect. The wildlife and beaches are so amazing.

Seven Emu is the western neighbour of Pungalina. Wollogorang is the eastern neighbour. The Australian Wildlife Conservancy bought Pungalina a year or so ago, and have come to an agreement with Frank Shadforth (Seven Emu owner) to add some of the eastern part of Seven Emu to the conservancy operation.
AWC is very actively adding places to its conservancy portfolio. It does at times seek volunteers to help out at some of the places, so we are hoping we may get to go back to Pungalina in that capacity, one day.

We've just returned from a camping trip and found a magic place quite close to home. Opposite the turnoff to Talbingo on the Snowy Mountains Highway is the most beautiful campground next to Jounama Creek. They've had good rains lately, and the Creek was running well, the grass green, wildflowers in the bush,...Ahhh the serenity!

hi all im new here ,

but thought ide put down some places ive been to ,and what my favourite place was alas i have heard it has become quite frequented now, it was a place called janie creek about half hour drive up the beach from mapoon which is an hour from weipa fantastic barra fishing.
but other places i can remember at the moment are Old Bar, Limmen Bight,Cape Trib
Cairns,and all the places on the map on the way to the top both coastal and thru middle, Ayers rock twice, Alice springs, and from the bottom of aussie to the tip
and all thru the middle of australia also several places across from middle of aussie to
coast, lived in Port mcq at time used to travel once a year to fish for barra.
Now living in the gorgeous Glasshouse Mountains hoping to get some sort of outfit to travel in five years time and maybe not even return .who knows biggrin

A memorable place for me was Etty Bay just outside Cairns.  I was able to walk along the beach with a Cassawary.  Not once but on three occasions.  The man who ran the site was an artist and the fish and chips in the cafe on the beach were amazing.  It was just up from Murder Bay that was such a dreadful story.

Do you mean you are from glasshouse mountains?? ive just moved here from landsborough ive been in the area now for six years i was in beerwah to begin with
then i was in witta near maleny, then i moved down the mountain to landsborough have lived in three different houses in landsy and then just purchased a house on old
gympie road Glasshouse mountains in october.

Know a lot of people but not so sure of toro?? is he a tradesman or anything in this area as mostly we know the tradies , like plumbers, mechanics etc from work places
know mountain auto electrics from beerwah, know all the guys in the pump house in beerwah, lots of people but toro doesnt ring a bell??

ive been right past lawn hill but not into it ? heard that it is incredible place though so have to get out there and see it one day .

Hi Bare Rambler.
Dave has deleted himself, so you missed the bus.
I have skinny dipped in very out of the way places where only the kangaroos and birds could be disgusted. Very, very private.
I couldn't go skinny dipping where anyone was likely to see me. I couldn't put anyone through that ordeal. Definitely not a spectator event.

Hi boyz & girlz.

Read the posts daily, and have done so for eons. Decided to come on board to add my bits.

The bride & I haven't long returned from the south coast of NSW...and some great beaches........Almands, just south of Bermagui, Pooles & 1890 beaches in the Eurobodalla National Park, just south of Narooma.disbeliefdisbelief

Seems that all par taking in the sunning and swimming stakes forgot their swim wear....must be global warming (he he!!!) yawnyawnyawn

Congo to the east of Moruya is a blast and great camping area.

One of the wierdest and most magic places we have been is the Pinnacles Desert in WA, just couldn't believe we were only 15 kls from the coast, you tell people about it and most Aussies have never heard of it, also loved Lake Argyle, so many places, not enough time

The magic place for me happens to be:- 

Night times under big open skies filled with amazing  stars, a crackling fire with the aroma of burning gum leaves wafting through the air.  A beverage suitable for the occasion, something to nibble on and the distant hum of the generator... well maybe not the generator. no biggrin 

It's times when one can relax, look around and take in the magical surounds that is Australia, no matter where you may be. 

Make the most of it now, you wont get a second chance....
